About The Position

Responsible for promoting safe, effective, and reliable operation and maintenance of the Renewable fleet. Inspects, repairs and maintains various types of plant electrical, electronic, instrumentation, controls, and electromechanical equipment, including breakers, battery systems, communication, SCADA, and various other devices and control systems. The role is responsible for the overall operations, including operating, monitoring, and controlling the status of all power plant systems. This involves executing plant shut-down and start-ups, responding to alarms and equipment issues, and coordinating maintenance and work with current plant conditions and commercial commitments. The technician ensures strict adherence to safety, health and environmental procedures, inspects, repairs, calibrates, troubleshoots, and maintains various types of plant equipment and systems such as leads, buses, breakers, batteries, lighting, cranes, electrical switches, recorders, communications systems, uninterruptable power supplies, battery chargers, and electronic logic controllers. They conduct low, medium and high voltage switching and grounding activities, locate and correct malfunctions, and are responsible for plant oversight in the absence of management. The position also involves performing technical work, training others, gaining knowledge of the entire plant cycle, maintaining relationships with various internal and external groups, keeping records, and performing routine and emergency maintenance on plant electrical, instrumentation, HVAC, and control systems.

Requirements

  • High School education or GED equivalent
  • Minimum of 3 years working as an Electrician or Technician in an Energy or OIL & Gas related industry
  • Demonstrate effective oral and verbal communications skills
  • Provide the technical expertise and skills to effectively work on and troubleshoot various electrical circuits. This includes low voltage control and power circuits, up to high-voltage substation and switchyard equipment
  • Provide the technical expertise and skills to perform calibrations and maintenance of field instrumentation
  • Proficient computer skills
  • Understands basic AC/DC Electrical Circuits, Digital/Analog I&C Controls, and Mechanics
  • Develop knowledge and understanding of the power plant processes
  • Demonstrates specific knowledge and skills to perform job assignments
  • Demonstrates knowledge of how job assignment impacts other systems/units and uses this knowledge to maximize safety and minimize equipment problems
  • Demonstrates knowledge and utilization of resources required to perform job, such as drawings, instruction books, calibration data sheets, MAXIMO, etc.
  • Candidate will be required to join the union upon acceptance and start date

Responsibilities

  • Ensures strict adherence to safety, health and environmental procedures as they relate to plant operations and maintenance including but not limited to Lockout Tagout, Job Safety Analysis, Confined Space, Hot Work, Electrical Safety and PPE
  • Inspects, repairs, calibrates, troubleshoot, and maintains various types of plant equipment and systems. Equipment includes leads, buses, breakers, batteries, lighting, cranes, electrical switches, and includes electronic equipment such as recorders, communications systems, uninterruptable power supplies, battery chargers, and electronic logic controllers, both analog and digital
  • Conducts low, medium and high voltage switching, and grounding activities for all plant auxiliary equipment
  • Locates, analyzes and corrects malfunctions of electrical and electronic equipment
  • Understands and able to ensure proper operation of the plant
  • Responsible for plant oversight in the absence of management
  • Performs technical work or analysis of processes and actively trains others in area of expertise
  • Gains knowledge of the entire plant cycle and how it functions
  • Maintain a good working relationship with Renewables Team, POC, Purchasing, Warehouse, OEMs, EPC, contractors, and other support groups and vendors
  • Keeps records on electrical and electronic equipment, including inspections and overhaul reports, updates maintenance management system (Maximo), and makes effective use of the maintenance planning tools
  • Perform routine and emergency maintenance and/or compliance activities on the plant electrical, instrumentation, HVAC, and control systems including weekends, holidays, and scheduled shift as assigned
  • Complies with safety and environmental regulations established by regulatory agencies, the Safety Handbook, Company Policy, and supervision
  • Develops and implements plant operating procedures
  • Directs work of vendors and contractors as assigned
