Salary range: The full pay range for this role is $22.00 - $37.00 per hour , and the good faith estimated starting pay for this position upon hire is $24.00 to $32.00 per hour. We generally base our salary decisions on factors including but not limited to, relevant work and leadership experience, education, demonstrated performance, internal equity, and in some cases, geographic location. Scope of Job : Under specific direction from the site manager and supervision of an experienced technician, this position will assist experienced technicians with conducting maintenance, preventative maintenance, and repair of wind turbines and/or photovoltaic power and energy storage systems. Required Training : Each Renewable Energy Technician will attend mandatory five (5) week training and certification course at the start of their employment. The exact duration will be determined based on experience and qualifications. The training is in Albert Lea, MN, and travel, accommodation, and expenses will be provided. Under the direction of the site manager, this position is responsible for conducting preventative maintenance of wind turbines and/or photovoltaic power energy storage systems; and, under the supervision of an experienced technician, conducts troubleshooting and repairs. This position is expected to work safely under all circumstances and to seek guidance for any work for which they are unfamiliar or do not feel competent to perform safely. This position is a Limited Term role for a duration of three months, with the potential for transition to a full-time position at the conclusion of the contract, contingent upon performance.

Requirements

  • High school Diploma or equivalent required.
  • 2 to 4 years of experience in renewable energy or a similar discipline.
  • Must meet Qualified Electrical Worker standards.
  • OSHA 10 or equivalent certification.
  • Basic Safety Training (BST) certification under the Global Wind Organization.
  • Basic Technical Training (BTT) certification under the Global Wind Organization.
  • Control of Hazardous Energies (CoHE) certification under the Global Wind Organization
  • Slinger and Signaler certification under the Global Wind Organization.
  • NFPA 70E and NFPA 70B or equivalent certification.
  • Must possess a valid current driver’s license and successfully meet organizational requirements to operate motor vehicles.
  • Requires basic knowledge of electrical, mechanical, and hydraulic components of wind turbines/ photovoltaic power and energy storage systems.
  • Familiar with CSA Z462 / NFPA 70E and able to identify the appropriate PPE required for specific tasks and environments.
  • Requires basic understanding of schematics and can use a multi-meter correctly.
  • Able to demonstrate basic computer knowledge.
  • Able to follow both verbal and written instructions.
  • Good verbal and written communication skills.
  • Successfully complete applicable safety and technical training p rogram for the entry level technician.
  • Ability to understand, read, write, and speak clearly in English.
  • Due to weight restrictions associated with life-saving fall-arrest equipment employees are required to wear while working at heights, maximum employee weight (for Wind only) must not exceed 285 lbs. Employee weight is subject to review at any time throughout employment and required annually at a minimum.
  • While performing the duties of this job the employee is regularly required to: o Be able to use hands and fingers to handle or feel; and be able to reach with hands and arms. o Possess good hand-eye coordination and manual dexterity for working with small parts and tools. o Possess good vision and hearing to frequently detect potential hazards and communicate effectively with team members. o Be able to stand, crouch, walk, and work for extended periods of time. o Be able to operate company vehicles (field trucks) on site and on public roads and highways. o Regularly lift and/or move up to 35 pounds and frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. o Be able to work in an electrical-mechanical environment. o Ability to climb ladders, stairs, and structures to heights more than 91 meters (300 feet). o Able to work at heights, including climbing up and descending towers, entering nacelles and hubs at extreme heights. o Be comfortable with working in various weather conditions, including extreme heat, cold, wind, and rain.

Responsibilities

  • In the field: Performs preventative maintenance on wind turbines, utility scale photovoltaic power plants and storage systems.
  • Under the supervision of an experienced technician, performs troubleshooting, repairs, and upgrades/ revisions to a broad range of equipment in the renewable industry.
  • Properly completes Job Safety Assessments, applies LOTOs by following LOTO plans & procedures, identifies & reports all safety hazards on jobsite and suggest improvements, and attends safety meetings.
  • Participates in the 24hr/weekly “On Call” rotation & work outside business hours when needed.
  • Attends safety and technical training required for this position.
  • Administrative duties, such as documenting completed jobs, implementing supply orders. Complete daily work orders, time tracking and any other required paperwork for the specific project/assignment.
  • Other duties as assigned.
