About The Position

Clean Energy Counsel, a mission-driven law firm dedicated to accelerating the world’s transition away from fossil fuels, seeks to hire a highly qualified junior finance associate with excellent law firm experience and academic credentials to join our firm. We are looking for an attorney who has expertise working on debt financings, including large syndicated financings and traditional project financings. The ideal applicant would also have a solid corporate law foundation and particular experience working in the renewable energy space. This position is fully remote – as a distributed law firm, we offer the opportunity to work remotely from wherever you are licensed to practice law.

Requirements

  • 2-5 years of experience at a law firm, ideally in a practice serving clients in the renewable energy and related industries.
  • Experience working on large syndicated financings and drafting the various related ancillary agreements (e.g. reliance letters, resolutions, opinion backup certificates, etc.).
  • Ability to confidently manage checklist on large complex transactions and move various deal components forward.
  • Strong organization, drafting, communication, negotiation, and analytical skills.
  • Team-focused outlook with a focus on mentoring junior attorneys.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills as well as organizational, planning and project management skills with the capacity to simultaneously handle a variety of complex matters under strict deadlines and pressure.
  • Ability to work and collaborate effectively in a remote work environment.
  • Admission to and in good standing with the Bar of the applicant’s state of residence.
  • Dedication to the firm’s mission.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as the junior attorney on complex financings in the renewable energy field, including drafting, reviewing, revising and negotiating transaction documents and ancillary agreements.
  • Collaborate with clients, CEC colleagues, and other professionals on finance matters.
  • Adhere to Firm policies, practices, and priorities.
  • Perform other duties as requested by Firm management.

Benefits

  • 1,200 annual billable hour requirement, with bonuses for exceeding such requirement and for origination of new clients and matters based on a percentage of total revenue received.
  • Base salary of $175,000+. The base salary for this position will be determined during the interview process and will vary based on multiple factors, including but not limited to prior experience, relevant expertise, current business needs, and market factors.
