About The Position

The Removal Defense Operations Supervisor plays a critical frontline leadership role within our immigration practice and works under the direction of the Legal Operations Manager. This position is responsible for day-to-day execution, team oversight, and adherence to standardized workflows to ensure work moves efficiently, accurately, and on time. Performs other duties as assigned. This is an operations-focused supervisory position accountable for managing capacity, monitoring work in progress, enforcing standards, and escalating risks, so attorneys and paralegals can focus on high-value legal work while maintaining quality and compliance.

Requirements

  • Experience in immigration law operations or high-volume, compliance-driven legal environments.
  • Prior supervisory or team lead experience is strongly preferred.
  • Working knowledge of continuous improvement or operational best practices.
  • Strong organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
  • Frontline people leadership and coaching.

Responsibilities

  • Execute weekly operating routines as directed by the Legal Operations Manager, including capacity planning, WIP control, backlog review, and escalations.
  • Supervise assigned paralegal teams to ensure priorities, SLAs, and internal deadlines are met.
  • Monitor daily workflow health, identify risks or bottlenecks, and escalate issues promptly with recommended solutions.
  • Ensure consistent use of approved workflows, checklists, templates, and quality gates.
  • Track and report team-level metrics including backlog aging, cycle times, rework/returns, and SLA adherence.
  • Maintain accurate data hygiene in operational tools and dashboards.
  • Use metrics to coach team members, reinforce accountability, and drive predictable performance.
  • Enforce SOPs, workflow standards, and quality expectations set by Legal Operations leadership.
  • Conduct first-level quality reviews to reduce preventable errors and rework.
  • Identify recurring defects, handoff issues, or failure points and elevate patterns to the Legal Operations Manager.
  • Participate in continuous improvement initiatives led by the Legal Operations Manager.
  • Provide frontline insights and data to support root cause analysis and solution design.
  • Pilot new workflows, tools, or standards with assigned teams and provide structured feedback.
  • Help document validated improvements into SOPs, checklists, and training materials.
  • Apply approved AI tools to day-to-day operational use cases (summarization, drafting assistance, translation scaffolding, checklist support) as directed.
  • Ensure AI usage complies with confidentiality, ethical, and tool-approval policies.
  • Support adoption of new tools and automations by reinforcing usage and identifying gaps.
