About The Position

Join the New Frontier Immigration Law team and help change the lives of 1 million undocumented immigrants during the greatest attack on immigrants in our nation's history. Our fast-growing, 125-person law firm in Phoenix, AZ is committed to humanitarian-based immigration and finding innovative solutions for seemingly impossible problems. We seek an experienced removal defense attorney based in Phoenix to serve as a cornerstone of our removal defense practice. With 65-75% of our recent cases being removal defense matters, this role is mission-critical. You'll join as part of a two-attorney removal defense team, providing coverage for Phoenix and LA offices while we scale to meet unprecedented demand. This is not a training position. We need a specialist who arrives ready to handle complex removal defense cases, bringing expertise in this specific practice area.

Requirements

  • Active law license in good standing (Arizona bar OR immediate waive-in ability)
  • Minimum 3 years of removal defense experience as primary attorney
  • Completed at least 30 Individual Calendar Hearings (ICHs), with emphasis on asylum
  • Proven track record of successful case outcomes
  • Experience writing successful BIA appeals
  • Based in Phoenix, AZ (or willing to relocate immediately)
  • Strong courtroom presence and litigation skills
  • Excellence in written and oral advocacy
  • Outstanding client service and communication skills
  • Ability to self-regulate in high-pressure situations
  • Team management experience

Nice To Haves

  • Bilingual: Spanish/English (great feature, not required)
  • Experience in high-volume immigration practices
  • Familiarity with T visas, U visas, VAWA, or other humanitarian relief

Responsibilities

  • Represent clients before EOIR and USCIS independently
  • Handle complex asylum cases, cancellation, bond hearings, and other forms of relief
  • Conduct Individual Calendar Hearings and Master Calendar Hearings
  • Write appeals before the Board of Immigration Appeals
  • Research and work with country conditions experts
  • File detailed motions, briefs, and legal memoranda
  • Liaise with ICE, DHS, and EOIR
  • Conduct thorough client interviews and develop winning case strategies
  • Provide exceptional, compassionate client communication
  • Maintain meticulous case documentation using Filevine
  • Manage and mentor a dedicated legal team
  • Follow systematic checklists to ensure consistent quality
