Requirements

  • 5+ years of experience underwriting FNMA, FHLMC.
  • FHA and VA designations are a plus.
  • Experience with multiple Investor guidelines and overlays.
  • Advanced knowledge of Desktop Underwriter (DU) and Loan Product Advisor (LPA).
  • Proven experience in refinance and purchase mortgage underwriting.
  • Loan Origination Software experience required, preferably Encompass or LendingPad.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, high-production environment.

Responsibilities

  • Validate the accuracy of all calculations and update data in LOS to ensure data integrity in the AUS response.
  • Evaluate the credit package to ensure an investment-quality loan product.
  • Review and approve third-party purchase contracts, title reports, and other legal documentation.
  • Collaborate with team members to identify potential solutions for challenging loan files.
  • Escalate challenges to the Underwriting Manager/Director as necessary.
  • Meet turn time expectations and SLAs for review.
  • Maintain current knowledge of secondary market guidelines.
  • Manage a daily pipeline to meet service expectations.
