About The Position

East House is a dedicated non-profit organization committed to supporting individuals on their journey to recovery. We provide comprehensive services, including residential support, counseling, peer support and community outreach to empower individuals to overcome mental health and substance use disorders and lead fulfilling lives. Our mission is to foster a supportive environment that promotes healing and long-term recovery. The Relief Staff Administrator plays a critical leadership role in ensuring consistent, high-quality staffing coverage and effective day-to-day residential operations across East House programs. This position is responsible for the recruitment, training, scheduling, supervision, and performance management of Residential Relief Staff, while also supporting site operations, staff compliance, documentation, and recovery-oriented programming in collaboration with Residential Management, Human Resources, Learning & Development, and Quality Assurance.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in human service related field and five years’ paid human service experience or Master’s degree in human services and three years’ paid human service experience.
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively and work cooperatively with other staff and community professionals
  • Demonstrated organizational and teaching abilities
  • Demonstrated ability to develop, implement, and evaluate staff development
  • Demonstrated knowledge of, and ability to effectively provide counseling with culturally diverse persons with diverse psychiatric and/or chemical dependency problems, individually and in groups
  • Demonstrated skills in counseling, crisis assessment and intervention, goal planning and implementation; effective communication and ability to work cooperatively with culturally diverse clients, staff, and community representatives in a supervisory capacity
  • Basic Computer Literacy as evidenced by the ability to go online and conduct basic searches on the Internet, check his/her email account, create and send email with an attachment and use simple email features. Can open spreadsheets and word processing documents to read and make simple edits.
  • Basic Microsoft Word skills as evidenced by the ability to produce basic business letters and simple tables and charts; as well as check spelling, set tabs, change page orientation, sort, save, open and organize electronic files.
  • Valid NYS driver’s license in good standing and access to a personal vehicle for work-related tasks.

  • Supervisory experience in residential services preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Recruitment & Workforce Pipeline Management
  • Collaborate with Human Resources to develop and implement outreach and recruitment strategies.
  • Screen resumes, conduct initial candidate assessments, and coordinate interviews.
  • Maintain timely communication with candidates.
  • Verify qualifications and compliance requirements.
  • Develop sustainable recruitment systems.
  • Training & Staff Development
  • Ensure staff complete onboarding and regulatory training.
  • Develop and facilitate core and role-specific training.
  • Evaluate training effectiveness.
  • Build a cross-trained relief staff workforce.
  • Staffing Coordination & Scheduling
  • Assess staffing needs across residential programs.
  • Schedule relief staff to ensure adequate coverage.
  • Monitor minimum work-hour requirements.
  • Supervision & Performance Management
  • Provide supervision, coaching, and feedback.
  • Conduct evaluations and implement performance improvement plans.
  • Ensure policy compliance.
  • Residential Operations & Program Support
  • Monitor documentation and site operations.
  • Participate in incident review.
  • Support recovery-oriented programming.
  • Compliance & Quality Assurance
  • Ensure compliance with policies and regulations.
  • Collaborate with Quality Assurance on corrective actions.
  • Other Duties
  • Follows all applicable policies, federal and state laws, and East House compliance standards.
  • Collaborates with the Office of Ethics, Compliance & Quality to address non-compliance, and document corrective actions.
