Relief Machine Operato r 2 Wanted for Swing shift (Mon-Fri, 3:30pm-12:00am) to join our team in Scotia, CA!! Additionally, the Mendocino Companies own and operate a 25-megaWatt biomass cogeneration power plant and wood pellet plant Responsibilities The Relief Machine Operator is responsible for relieving production operators during breaks, vacations, and other absences. Key Responsibilities: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Relieves production operators during breaks, vacations and other absences Checks with Supervisor for machine assignment daily Inspects machine, and operates machine Resets and calibrates machines Collects reports and enters data into computers Checks lumber sizes and adjusts machines as necessary Communicates regularly with other team members and participates in team effort in work area; Keeps work areas clean Qualifications High school diploma or general education degree (GED) One year related sawmill / planer experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience Read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals Ability to read and understand instructions and memos Apply common sense and understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form Ability to add, and subtract, two digit numbers and to multiply and divide with 10’s and 100’s Physical Demands and Work Environment: While performing the duties of this position, the employee is regularly required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; and communicate The employee is occasionally required to sit Frequently the employee is required to climb or balance and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 25 pounds, frequently up to 50 pounds, and occasionally lift and/or move up to 100 pounds Specific vision abilities required by this position include close, distance, color, peripheral, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus The personal protective equipment requirements described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this position.
