About The Position

The Maintenance/Reliability Manager leads all maintenance activities at the site. The Maintenance Manager is expected to drive the site’s continuous improvement leading to improved mechanical integrity and ultimately plant reliability. The Maintenance Manager will drive these improvements while ensuring that work is conducted safely and in compliance with company standards and regulatory requirements. Champion the reliability and mechanical integrity strategy reviews and support execution. Demonstrate accountability for the integrity of critical assets and protective systems. Develop and monitor a comprehensive inspection program to maintain mechanical integrity and compliance with all engineering/regulatory codes and internal policies. Ensure efficient and effective daily maintenance activities. Oversee maintenance of assets in a proactive manner. Develop and implement preventive and predictive maintenance programs on existing equipment (fixed equipment, pumps, safety devices, etc.) based on manufactures recommendation and Recognized and Generally Accepted Good Engineering Practices (RAGAGEP). Works closely with the corporate reliability group and the operations organization to develop and drive the reliability program, maintenance work process, materials and warehousing processes, turnaround, relief valve and mechanical integrity. Ensure measurement system is in place to for tracking reliability and causes for deviation are understood by the organization. Ensure resources are committed to completing and following up on root cause failure analysis. This will be done by, among other activities, preparing “one pagers” for each asset failure whether rotating, static, or electrical. Support audits and insurance surveys in relation to MI programs for Fixed and static Equipment and Relief Systems. Promote maintenance of Relief Systems, Flare Systems and venting systems to keep related equipment in evergreen status. Oversee quality control checks and audit deliverables for timeliness, accuracy, and adherence to the MI procedures. These audits include reviewing maintenance records and 3rd party vendors involved in the design or testing of relief devices. Provides feedback in the development of company procedures, maintenance methods and processes to improve equipment reliability and drive compliance. Leverages metrics to drive continuous improvement of preventive and predictive programs, drive maintenance efficiencies, assess equipment condition relative to safety and serviceability, and monitor and improve on equipment downtime and maintenance costs. Coordinate with procurement team to ensure an appropriate critical spares management system is in place. Ensure that the critical spares warehouses are orderly, well arranged and that needed spares can be readily identified and pulled. Ensure adequate cost controls are in place to allow the site to meet its financial obligations. Develop annual departmental budget plan and cascade the budget expectations through the organization. Monitor performance versus plan and investigate deviations, taking corrective action when necessary. Ensure appropriate priorities are established for work, work is planned and estimated and actual costs versus estimates are reviewed and addressed. Lead/participate in incident investigations to identify root causes and corrective recommendations to prevent recurrence. Other duties as assigned by the Site Director.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in technical field such as Mechanical Engineering (preferred), or Reliability Engineering, or similar field required.
  • Minimum 6+ years of maintenance, inspection management and reliability experience in a continuous and batch process facility required.
  • Experience in chemical, petrochemical, refining or industrial manufacturing environment is required.
  • Demonstrated operational safety leadership with sustainable results.
  • Proven leadership skills and ability to influence at a local level and across a broad organization.
  • Strong technical skills in maintenance and reliability engineering.
  • Knowledge of industry standards and practices – ASTM, API, NACE and ASME.
  • Strong communication skills, interpersonal skills and ability to build relationships and influence others.
  • Demonstrated history of emotional intelligence and good judgement.
  • Must be able to travel and work in the office as well as in plants and in the field.
