About The Position

As a Release of Information Assistant II at CentraCare, you will apply critical thinking to analyze, coordinate, and process moderate to complex requests for the release of health information in an organized, efficient, and confidential manner. This role requires knowledge of current release of health information regulations set forth by the State of Minnesota, the Federal Government, HIPAA, and other regulatory bodies. You will also need the ability to use and interpret the Minnesota "Legal Manual" on release of information. You will effectively correspond with insurance companies, representatives, patients, medical and legal offices, and attorneys. Additionally, you will be responsible for billing health records sent to requestors and maintaining all ROI work queues.

Requirements

  • Knowledge of current release of health information regulations set forth by the State of Minnesota, the Federal Government, HIPAA, and other regulatory bodies
  • Ability to use and interpret the Minnesota "Legal Manual" on release of information
  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Registered Health Information Technician (RHIT) or Registered Health Information Administrator (RHIA) certification or 3 years of experience specifically in Release of Information
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks
  • Excellent prioritizing and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent customer service skills
  • Computer knowledge and keyboard skills
  • Knowledgeable in the area of confidentiality and release of information standards

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with Release of Information
  • Post High School degree completion of at least 2-year HIM related program
