About The Position

The Rehabilitation Technician-1 assists each discipline in rehabilitation (physical therapy, occupational therapy, recreational therapy, speech pathology) in performing specific tasks as assigned to promote a smooth and efficient operation. Assists patients and maintains a clean, safe, and well-functioning rehabilitation environment. Ensures therapy areas and equipment meet hospital standards for safety and readiness while providing hands-on support to therapy staff during patient’s treatment. Services may be provided for Inpatient and Outpatient Rehabilitation service departments. Requires job flexibility with excellent communication skills. Performs other duties as needed.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED required
  • Ability to manipulate wheelchair pieces
  • Ability to repair minor problems with equipment
  • Ability to communicate in person with patients, family, staff and visitors
  • Ability to work with a team
  • Recognizes safety problems and make the appropriate correction
  • Able to read; write legibly; speak in English with professional quality
  • Ability to use computer and software programs necessary to the position
  • Ability to troubleshoot and calibrate patient care equipment
  • Able to relate and communicate positively, effectively, and professionally with others
  • Ability to be assertive and consistent in following and/or enforcing policies
  • Ability to work calmly and respond courteously when under pressure
  • Ability to lead, supervise, teach, and collaborate

  • Ability to discern temperature variances through touch

Nice To Haves

  • Currently enrolled into a program offered in the School of Allied Health Professionals (i.e., Physical Therapy (PT), Occupational Therapy (OT) or Nursing)
  • Minimum one year of recent health care experience in rehabilitation nursing or a therapy service (i.e. PT, OT, Speech Pathology, Recreational Therapy)
  • Speak in Spanish
