About The Position

Temporary Position from 01/11/2026 to 07/11/2026 Job Summary: The Rehabilitation Technician-1 assists each discipline in rehabilitation (physical therapy, occupational therapy, recreational therapy, speech pathology) in performing specific tasks as assigned to promote a smooth and efficient operation. Assists patients and maintains a clean, safe, and well-functioning rehabilitation environment. Ensures therapy areas and equipment meet hospital standards for safety and readiness while providing hands-on support to therapy staff during patient’s treatment. Services may be provided for Inpatient and Outpatient Rehabilitation service departments. Requires job flexibility with excellent communication skills. Performs other duties as needed. Education and Experience: High School Diploma or GED required. Currently enrolled into a program offered in the School of Allied Health Professionals (i.e., Physical Therapy (PT), Occupational Therapy (OT) or Nursing) or minimum one year of recent health care experience in rehabilitation nursing or a therapy service (i.e. PT, OT, Speech Pathology, Recreational Therapy) preferred. Knowledge and Skills: Manipulate wheelchair pieces. Repair minor problems with equipment. Ability to communicate in person with patients, family, staff and visitors. Ability to work with a team. Recognizes safety problems and make the appropriate correction. Able to read; write legibly; speak in English (and Spanish preferred) with professional quality; use computer and software programs necessary to the position; troubleshoot and calibrate patient care equipment. Able to relate and communicate positively, effectively, and professionally with others; be assertive and consistent in following and/or enforcing policies; work calmly and respond courteously when under pressure; lead, supervise, teach, and collaborate; accept direction. Able to communicate effectively in English in person, in writing, and on the telephone; think critically; work independently with minimal supervision; perform basic math functions; manage multiple assignments effectively; work well under pressure; problem solve; organize and prioritize workload; recall information with accuracy; pay close attention to detail. Able to distinguish colors and smells as necessary for patient care; hear sufficiently for general conversation in person and on the telephone; identify and distinguish various sounds associated with the work place/patient care; see adequately to read computer screens, medical records, and written documents necessary to position; discern temperature variances through touch.
