About The Position

This is a direct care opportunity within a Psychiatric Rehabilitation Program (PRP) that offers day programs and supportive living programs. The role involves providing support for mental health treatment in a safe and therapeutic environment, encouraging clients' overall independence and wellbeing. Clients in day programs receive group activities, individual support, and mental health services, while those in supportive living programs get assistance with independent living and access to the day program. The specialist will work one-on-one with clients to help them learn or regain skills for successful community and independent living and socialization. The position also involves ensuring medication compliance, collaborating with a service team on individual service plans, providing transportation to medical appointments, and advocating for clients. Additionally, the role includes responsibilities related to food service operations, ensuring sanitation, compliance with health regulations, and accurate documentation for programs like CACFP. The specialist will develop rapport with clients, becoming part of their trusted support system and celebrating their progress in recovery. All direct care staff receive thorough training and mentorship from senior staff.

Requirements

  • Current, valid SERVSAFE certification upon hire or within 60 days of hire.
  • Ability to obtain additional certifications/trainings as may be required by certain programs (e.g., CPR/First Aid, Infection Control, Food Safety and Handling, and Crisis Intervention/Suicidal Protocol).
  • Must possess direct knowledge of or be willing to learn and implement the CACFP program.
  • High school diploma or a GED.
  • Willingness to obtain additional certifications and trainings as required.
  • A driver’s license with 3-points or less.
  • Access to an insured vehicle.
  • Availability to work, days, nights, weekends, and holidays depending upon need of the program.

Responsibilities

  • Act as a residential counselor as you work one-on-one with clients to learn or regain skills for successful community and independent living and socialization.
  • Ensure medication compliance which involves responsibility for safety, dosage, and cleanliness.
  • Work as a part of a collaborative service team to develop and implement individual service plans.
  • Provide transportation and attending clients’ medical appointments.
  • Provide advocacy services throughout the appointment and ensure that all follow-up instruction is documented and/or followed through on.
  • Ensure overall sanitation and Department of health regulations are met and exceeded.
  • Ensures all CACFP documentation is completed accurately and timely.
  • Assist in the daily food operations and as-needed catering operations.
  • Help ensure that meals are attractive, nutritionally complete, appealing and delivered fresh and hot.
  • Coordinate the preparation and delivery of off-site meals.
  • Help ensure that food service documentation and licensing is accurate, complete and current.
  • Ensure compliance with all Department of Labor and State Laws, regulations, guidelines, and directives.
  • Participate in all required food service trainings.
  • Monitor accurate portion control and inventory control.
  • Negotiate food purchases and delivery.
  • Assist in general inventory control for food services.
