About The Position

FlexStaff Rehabilitation Counselor/ Mental Health Specialist Are you passionate about making a difference in the lives of individuals with severe and persistent mental illness? FlexStaff is seeking a dedicated and skilled professional to lead family services and provide direct care on our client’s innovative treatment team! As a vital member of the team, you’ll supervise and deliver personalized services to clients with complex mental health needs. Your expertise will help coordinate care, manage case records, conduct assessments, and facilitate recovery-focused treatment plans. You’ll be the point person for new referrals, admissions, crisis management, and ongoing treatment reviews—all while working in the community and on the move!

Requirements

• Master’s degree or higher in social work, psychology, or rehabilitation counseling (C.R.C. preferred for rehab specialists)
• Valid, clean NY State driver’s license
• Minimum 1 year of experience in a treatment or rehabilitation setting
• Clear background with fingerprinting, criminal record check, and approval from NYS Office of Mental Health
• Strong communication, organizational, and documentation skills
• Ability to manage a dynamic caseload efficiently
• Knowledge of psychiatric rehabilitation and recovery methods
• Proficiency with office software and healthcare IT applications
• Commitment to professionalism, ongoing credentialing, and compliance

Responsibilities

• Respond promptly to new referrals and conduct immediate needs assessments
• Manage comprehensive case records and treatment plans, updating them every six months
• Conduct regular assessments, screenings, and crisis/wellness planning
• Lead engaging group sessions aligned with treatment goals
• Provide transportation and ensure clients’ safety and well-being
• Maintain accurate documentation, complete discharge follow-ups, and track progress
• Collaborate with team members and utilize agency technology to deliver seamless care
