The Rehabilitation Therapist role within the Rainbow Babies & Children’s Hospital Child & Adolescent Psychiatric Unit offers a unique chance to become part of a dynamic, collaborative interdisciplinary team. This position adds value to patient care and significantly assists individuals with mental health and behavioral issues. We currently offer an opportunity for a PRN Rehab Therapist, to support children in our acute care hospital in Cleveland. Organizes and conducts daily therapeutic programs to facilitate rehabilitation of people with psychosocial illnesses; assesses, maintains and develops programs to enhance social, cognitive, physical and emotional functioning of patients.
Requirements
- Bachelor's Degree and graduate of an accredited school in Therapeutic Recreation, Art Therapy, Music Therapy or entry-level Occupational Therapy. (Required)
- Certification or licensure in respective field. (Required)
- Non-violent crisis prevention training within 3 months of employment (Required proficiency)
- Knowledge of therapeutic processes, growth and development, limit setting, behavior management and establishing/maintaining therapeutic relationships and boundaries appropriate to age of patient population served. (Required proficiency)
- Professional initiative, objectivity, good time management and interpersonal skills, commitment to interdisciplinary patient care delivery. (Required proficiency)
- Physical, cognitive and perceptual ability to provide appropriate patient therapies. (Required proficiency)
Nice To Haves
- Master's Degree (Preferred)
- Mental health experience or related services in health care facility (Preferred)
- Previous experience is preferred.
- Prior work with Pediatrics is strongly preferred.
- PRN is for any shift, Monday-Friday, weekends, and holidays. Will be needed for PTO, FMLA, and vacation coverage, as well as call-offs.
Responsibilities
- Perform assessment for functional and rehabilitative needs that may include activities of daily living; community living skills; social, leisure and vocational skills; self care.
- Provide quality therapeutic recreational and expressive therapy in group or individual setting
- Educate patient/family/caregiver in skills applicable for discharge plan.
- Participate in the interdisciplinary care process.
- Perform other department activities such as, but not limited to documentation, billing, support of department operations, etc.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
- Complies with all policies and standards.

- Must abide by all requirements to safely and securely maintain Protected Health Information (PHI) for our patients. Annual training, the UH Code of Conduct and UH policies and procedures are in place to address appropriate use of PHI in the workplace.
