About The Position

This Regulatory Supervisor position is responsible for the administrative oversight of the regulatory process, providing Board office services to support the Executive Director of the Boards of Clinical Social Work, Marriage & Family Therapy and Mental Health Counseling, Opticianry, Orthotists and Prosthetists, Athletic Training, Hearing Aid Specialists, Podiatric Medicine, and Genetic Counseling, Bureau of Health Care Practitioner Regulation. The employee in this position uses discretion and independent judgment in performing the following duties: Supervises Board staff who are responsible for the processing of licensure applications Assists the Executive Director in implementing and administering laws, rules, regulations, policies, and procedures with regard to licensing authority of professions Analyzes and develops new policies and procedures to efficiently and effectively implement Board, Department and legislative directives Assists with the creation of Board meeting agendas and materials. The employee in this position is responsible for supervising five Regulatory Specialist II employees in a multi-board office with primary responsibility for the Board of Clinical Social Work, Marriage & Family Therapy, and Mental Health Counseling (Chapter 491). Operates in partnership with the Program Operations Administrator for the Boards of Podiatry, Orthotists & Prosthetists, Hearing Aid Specialists, Opticianry, Athletic Training, and Genetic Counseling. The employee in this position uses discretion and independent judgment when performing varied and complex task assignments. Hires, trains, and directly supervises positions responsible for the processing of applications and other related duties. Responsible for all supervisory duties including, but not limited to, approving leave requests, ensuring that office directives and policies are followed and that employees perform satisfactorily. Performs evaluations of employees by preparing realistic goals and schedules; develops performance and quality control standards; monitors progress and results; encourages exemplary performance; takes corrective action and resolves performance issues. Ensures staff receives necessary training; completes mandatory training; and evaluates the need for additional requirements to promote staff development. Assists the Program Operations Administrator with the preparation of Board agendas. When requested, coordinates with department legal, Board counsel, executive director, and Board members regarding topics to be discussed. Assists with the final preparation of Board meeting minutes and the filing of licensure orders that are maintained in the Board office. Maintains current knowledge of statutes and rules related to assigned Boards. Responds to written and verbal communication requests regarding policies, procedures, regulations, and operations of the office, Board, and department. Prepares responses to correspondence requiring both routine and supervisory-level attention. Primarily manages the general zzz box for the office.  Assists Program Operations Administrator with the maintenance of the Board website regarding all content relevant to applicants, licensees, and the public. LEIDS Cash Handling/ Transfer Money Actively participates in the Board office management and leadership team, assuming responsibility for special projects and activities as assigned and coordinating functions with other team members, as needed. Reviews weekly performance metrics and applies appropriate measures to encourage application processing improvement.  Collaborates with the Program Operations Administrators to complete quarterly and annual Balanced Score Card reports for the office. Identifies operational concerns requiring attention, conducts necessary research, completes analyses, and prepares recommendations for the Program Operations Administrator and Executive Director.  Prepares and maintains desk guides for existing and new processes.  Creates and maintains licensure letters in LEIDS. Responsible for assisting with LEIDS cash handling including refund preparation and transferring money.

  • Knowledge and proficiency in using Windows-based computers.

Nice To Haves

  • Preference will be given to those with a bachelor’s degree or higher and relevant work experience, specifically supervising people and processes and/or health care administration involving health care practitioner licensure programs and/or relevant Florida Statutes and rules.
