About The Position

The Government Analyst I is a highly responsible and professional position located within the Bureau of Health Care Practitioner Regulation. This position is responsible for using professional judgement to provide information, guidance, direction, and assistance with health care licensure processes for highly complex applications. The employee in this position will perform professional and regulatory activities for the Board of Clinical Social Work, Marriage and Family Therapy and Mental Health Counseling (491 professions) which includes administrative duties or other regulatory related services. The employee exercises independent judgment and initiative in carrying out assignments to completion. The employee serves as the subject matter expert for complex licensure determinations, providing advanced analysis involving statutory interpretation, accreditation compliance, active practice evaluations, and non routine applicant scenarios. The employee exercises independent authority to approve or escalate licensure applications in accordance with Chapters 456 and 491, Florida Statutes, and applicable Board rules, and provides recommendations to leadership on complex regulatory matters. The employee independently reviews and analyzes exam, endorsement, provisional, limited licensure, and registered intern applications for the 491 professions, including second level evaluation of complex files, transcripts, accreditation documentation, and academic coursework. Statutory and rule requirements are applied to determine eligibility or identify deficiencies. The employee completes examination approvals, score processing, and final LEIDS actions, including processing examination approvals and scores for Clinical Social Work and Marriage & Family Therapy applicants. The employee responds to high level telephonic and email inquiries regarding intern registration, licensure applications, renewal requirements, and continuing education standards. This work requires an in depth knowledge of the laws and rules governing the 491 professions and the ability to clearly communicate information. The employee demonstrates the ability to de escalate irate callers and provide accurate guidance to applicants ranging from recent graduates to experienced out of state practitioners relocating to Florida. The employee also manages the shared “zzz” email inbox for the 491 professions and independently communicates with licensees and continuing education provider applicants to provide technical information related to continuing education requirements and licensure status. The employee assists with board meeting preparation by reviewing and organizing licensure applications scheduled for Board consideration. The employee evaluates board packages for completeness and accuracy, ensuring all required documentation is included and properly formatted. Under the direction of the Program Operations Administrator, the employee issues meeting notices once the agenda materials are approved. Following each board meeting, the employee implements Board directives, including issuing licenses, updating licensure records, and completing all required post meeting actions. The employee is responsible for the preparation and review of the applications for continuing education programs and providers. Reviews all application materials to determine completeness of application and notifies applicant of any incomplete data or omissions. Prepares complete applications for review by the continuing education committee. Provides notification to applicants, CE Broker and other parties regarding Board actions. Conducts audits of continuing education providers, including review of documents submitted to determine the compliance with laws and rules. Corresponds with providers concerning compliance. Reviews applications and determines the eligibility of licensees to be designated as a qualified supervisor. Adds correct modifiers to the Department's data base and notifies the licensee in writing of incompleteness, approval or denial. Process deceased practitioner information. Assists the Program Operations Administrator and Regulatory Supervisor with interviews and hiring new employees that will process the 491 professions registered intern and licensure applications. Provides training for new employees on the application review, credentials review and examination process.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent and 2 years’ experience that includes data entry, document preparation, computer software use, evaluating legal documents or evaluating for compliance with regulations, customer service, or handling sensitive information.
  • College education can substitute for the required experience on a year-for-year basis.
