About The Position

Do you like working as part of a team? Would you like to make a difference in the lives of people who have been injured on the job? If so, then join our team as a Regulatory Programs Assistant where you will have the opportunity to assist others in the work being done to research and investigate employers for compliance with the Nebraska Workers' Compensation Act. Location: Lincoln, Nebraska. Work is performed on-site in downtown Lincoln during normal business hours (Monday - Friday)

Requirements

  • Associate degree in office technology, office management, or related field or a minimum of two years of experience in an administrative assistant, legal, insurance, or business-related position or office management practices.
  • Knowledge of current office practices and procedures and use of standard office equipment.
  • Knowledge of basic English, grammar, and punctuation principles.
  • Skill in the use of a computer keyboard.
  • Skill in the use of word processing software.
  • Skill in the use of spreadsheet software.
  • Ability to make and implement decisions effectively in accordance with established policies and procedures.
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing.
  • Ability to maintain a high degree of confidentiality.
  • Ability to understand and accurately follow verbal and written instructions.
  • Ability to work on projects with only general supervision.

  • Workers’ compensation or customer service experience is helpful.

Responsibilities

  • In coordination with the Electronic Data Interchange Analyst, request that employers file reports of injury and obtain information needed to complete forms filed with the court that have insufficient or incorrect information.
  • Research, verify, and correct documents or information received through EDI involving incorrect social security numbers and/or names.
  • Make phone inquiries or send form letters to obtain missing first reports.
  • Scan, sort, date stamp, deliver, and file incoming mail.
  • Respond to requests from court staff for employer insurance coverage information. Forward the request to a Compliance Examiner if no coverage is located.
  • Process all outgoing mail for any coverage request letters generated by the Compliance Examiners, process all responses to those letters, and forward cases to a Compliance Examiner as needed.
  • In coordination with the Compliance Examiners, identify employer groups for education and coverage request letters, and mail any letters generated.
  • Assist in the preparation and mailing of information to new corporations regarding the obligation to carry workers’ compensation insurance and follow up with new corporations as to that information.
  • Respond to written and phone inquiries and provide general information.
  • Provide administrative support for the Independent Medical Examiner (IME) system including file set up, form letter preparation, follow up activities, daily reports, database maintenance, and coordination of review by other staff in accordance with established procedures.
  • Maintain section files for all compliance, medical, and self-insurance related activities. Work with the compliance examiners and self-insurance auditor on all file related issues.
  • Digitize all section records by scanning and filing.
