CEM Corporation (Matthews, NC) is seeking a highly self-motivated and experience individual to join our team as a Product Compliance Manager. This hands-on and highly visible role is critical to leading the company's product regulatory compliance programs. We are looking for a results-oriented professional with expectational communication skills and a strong ability to collaborate across engineering, quality, and supply chain teams. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience navigating product safety and EMC requirements throughout the product design and development process. This background will enable them to partner effectively with Design Engineers to identify creative, compliance-driven solutions early in the design phase. In addition to product safety and EMC responsibilities, this role will also oversee Materials Compliance activities. While materials compliance experience is important, we are seeking an individual with an engineering background and primary expertise in product development and compliance, complemented by a working knowledge of materials compliance. Key responsibilities include ensuring all CEM products meet applicable requirements and safety standards, maintaining robust documentation and testing programs, working closely with vendors to verify compliance of supplied materials and components. Your expertise will help ensure that CEM products not only meet global requirements but also hold the highest standards of safety, performance, and quality. This is an onsite role based at our Headquarters in Matthews, NC. Candidates must reside in or be willing to relocate to the Charlotte-Metro area.

Requirements

  • BS Degree in Engineering
  • 8+ years of experience as Compliance Engineer/Manager (or related)
  • Working knowledge of IEC, EN, UL, CSA safety & EMC standards
  • Understanding and familiarity of EU regulations such as LVD, MD, EMC, RoHS and REACH
  • Experience with EMC/FCC testing & troubleshooting
  • Experience listing products with Certifying Bodies such as UL, Intertek, TUV, MET, etc.
  • Experience compiling Test Plans, Technical Documentation Files, Declaration of Conformity, Risk Assessments, Gap Analysis
  • Excellent research, project management skills, and exceptional written and verbal communication skills
  • Highly motivated self-starter with ability to manage compliance projects and initiatives with minimal supervision

Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain the Company’s Product Compliance Program using a collaborative team approach.
  • Serve as the Company’s Subject Matter Expert on all product regulatory compliance matters, facilitating all compliance-related responses.
  • Coordinate technical communication between test labs and engineering teams, assisting in the identification and troubleshooting of safety or EMC related issues.
  • Actively participate in design reviews of new products to ensure safety and EMC compliance
  • Create and maintain required product regulatory documentation such as the Technical Construction File, Risk Assessment, and Declaration of Conformity.
  • Work with Nationally Recognized Testing Laboratories (NRTLs) to obtain test quotes, test reports, and product safety approvals.
  • Represent CEM during quarterly regulatory audits for NRTL-listed products, ensuring compliance and addressing any findings.
  • Monitor applicable standards and regulations to ensure ongoing compliance of products and documentation with regulatory requirements.
  • Support internal customer requests with proper compliance documentation.
  • Coordinate, gather, and manage supply chain information to meet ongoing environmental and substance restriction regulation such as RoHS and REACH, etc.
