About The Position

This position may be filled as an Engineer, Sr Staff or Technical Specialist, Sr Staff depending on qualifications and experience. This position is based out of Entergy Nuclear Headquarters, in Jackson, MS, or at one of the plants in our nuclear fleet. Relocation may be required. Relocation Assistance is available. This position will be responsible for leading the NRC inspection support activities for the Entergy Fleet. This is a lead position.

Requirements

  • B.S. Degree in Engineering or other closely related scientific discipline/physical science generally associated with power plant operations or equivalent work experience (equivalent experience defined as demonstrated success at the engineer/technical specialist level.) Individuals with an accredited Engineering degree will be designated as a Sr Staff Engineer.
  • 10+ years of experience in nuclear power design, operations, or equivalent, depending upon engineering level
  • Working knowledge of BWR/PWR systems (required) and 6 years nuclear licensing (desired)
  • Working knowledge of industry codes and standards, associated regulations, and design documents sufficient to prepare licensing documents and effective interpretations (desired)
  • Working knowledge of NRC inspection procedures and significant experience with inspection support (desired)
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office personal computer applications.
  • Strong analytical skills.
  • Ability to communicate well, to make presentations to senior Entergy management, and to build trusting relationships with the NRC personnel both at NRC headquarters and Region IV.

  • SRO license or certification on a PWR or BWR (desired).

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for assisting department managers in governance and support of processes and programs
  • Provide regulatory and technical expertise for emergent issues in support of or beyond the regulatory and technical capabilities or resources of the stations, and to augment the nuclear station resources for special issues
  • Develop, track and implement processes for fleet NRC inspections and NRC-related activities
  • Support resolution of regulatory compliance, reportability, and licensing issues impacting Entergy and supporting resolution of these issues
  • Provide expertise in plant licensing basis, as well as generic and plant-specific licensing issues
  • Perform research, as required, to develop or support formal Regulatory positions
  • Provide complete task management of regulatory issues
  • Interface with the NRC staff regarding Entergy compliance and licensing activities
  • Participate in and represent Entergy at industry forums in support of Entergy compliance and licensing objectives
  • Influence industry and NRC in development of regulations
  • Interface with Entergy corporate and plant engineering departments in support of licensing and compliance activities
  • This position may indirectly provide direction to individual contributors
