About The Position

The Department of Orthopedics and Sports Medicine is seeking a flexible and dependable PRN Registration Specialist to support patient registration and front office operations across multiple clinic locations. This role is essential to ensuring a smooth patient experience from check-in to check-out, while maintaining accuracy in financial and demographic data.

Requirements

High school diploma or GED required
Minimum availability of 16 hours per month
Strong reliability, punctuality, and customer service orientation

Nice To Haves

Prior experience in a healthcare setting preferred
Ability to learn and retain medical coding (ICD-10, CPT) preferred
Understanding of insurance information and clinical practices
Familiarity with medical terminology
Basic proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
Flexibility to work across multiple locations

Responsibilities

Greet patients and verify pre-registration details
Update appointment locations in Cerner
Scan insurance cards and photo IDs
Manage and distribute necessary paperwork
Arrive early to prepare the clinic environment
Turn on lights and TVs, unlock doors, check faxes, and retrieve records/referrals
Schedule follow-up appointments and provide appointment cards
Contact patients for rescheduling as needed
Monitor and clear work queues
Respond to front office messages
Scan and manage medical records and documents
Ensure all patients are checked out
Tidy the waiting area, power down equipment, and secure the clinic
