About The Position

Responsible for maintaining individual customer relationships with patients of the DCH Workforce Health Clinic by completing administrative duties required for the provision of direct patient medical care in the clinic.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED
  • Knowledge of general medical office procedures with at least 1-2 years medical office receptionist experience.
  • Ability to sort alphabetically and numerically.
  • Ability to operate basic office equipment.
  • Attentions to detail and to work with frequent interruptions.
  • Excellent verbal communication skills to interact with patients and other visitors.
  • Ability to establish effective working relationships with medical staff and co-workers.
  • Ability to maintain patient confidentiality.
  • Must be able to read, write legibly, speak, and comprehend English.

Responsibilities

  • Greet incoming patients. Obtain necessary information, including referrals for new patients, and prepare charts for clinic.
  • May require travel to and/or fill-in duties at additional clinics and/or travel to bank.
  • Maintain appointment sign in sheet and update database with demographic information as needed.
  • Answer phones and assist callers or route to the appropriate office personnel
  • Remind patients of upcoming appointments.
  • Send letters to patients for nonscheduled and missed appointments.
  • Schedule appointments, exams, and test as directed by medical staff, provide information regarding preparation for tests as needed.
  • Retrieve, maintain and organize patient files, laboratory reports, radiology reports, and additional records, letters, and any other sources of patient information/documents, etc.
  • Photocopy records as requested, forward information to other health care providers and insurance companies as requested.
  • Obtain and send all necessary information to billing agency including payments and receipts.
  • Retrieve information from physician’s workstation and boxes on a regular basis.
  • Assist in day to day tasks as needed in the clinic/office to ensure delivery of quality patient care, and a safe and efficient working environment.
  • Maintain patient privacy in all matters including written medical records and computer records.
  • Maintains performance, patient and employee satisfaction and financial standards as outlined in the performance evaluation.
  • Performs compliance requirements as outlined in the Employee Handbook
  • Must adhere to the DCH Behavioral Standards including creating positive relationships with patients/families, coworkers, colleagues and with self.
  • Requires use of electronic mail, time and attendance software, learning management software and intranet.
  • Must adhere to all DCH Health System policies and procedures.
  • Performs essential job functions in a manner that ensures the safety of patients, visitors and employees.
  • Identifies and reduces unsafe practices that may result in harm to patients, visitors and employees
  • Recognizes and takes appropriate action to reduce risks and hazards to promote safety for patients, visitors and employees.
  • All other duties as assigned.
