About The Position

The Registrar is responsible for obtaining patient information and validating documents, while completing an accurate account with no outstanding issues that would prevent a claim from reimbursement.

Requirements

  • High School graduate or equivalent.
  • Good clerical skills including ability to type 20 wpm and computer experience preferred.
  • Ability to work well with others in a courteous manner in stressful situations.
  • Excellent telephone and customer service skills required.
  • Must be able to read, write legibly, speak, and comprehend English.

Nice To Haves

  • Healthcare experience and understanding of basic medical terminology preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Enters patient financial and personal demographics in the computer in an accurate and efficient manner
  • Obtains appropriate signatures from patient/guarantor including date and time. Documents reasons if this information is not attainable.
  • Scans/copies all identification and insurance cards presented. Documents reasons if this information is not attainable.
  • Verifies insurance eligibility through Finthrive/websites. Responsible for working and correcting Finthrive errors.
  • Obtains any required pre-certifications, referrals, or authorizations for all patients based on insurance requirements.
  • Communicates any financial responsibility to patient/guarantor and follows front end collection policy
  • Ability to communicate effectively with patients, physicians, hospital based personnel and all other customers.
  • If applicable, identifies VIM (Virtual Intake Manager) info received and process accordingly to registration policy
  • If applicable, offer patient portal access by obtaining email to send link for enrollment
  • Maintains performance, patient and employee satisfaction and financial standards as outlined in the performance evaluation.
  • Performs compliance requirements as outlined in the Employee Handbook
  • Must adhere to the DCH Behavioral Standards including creating positive relationships with patients/families, coworkers, colleagues and with self.
  • Performs essential job functions in a manner that ensures the safety of patients, visitors and employees.
  • Identifies and reduces unsafe practices that may result in harm to patients, visitors and employees.
  • Recognizes and takes appropriate action to reduce risks and hazards to promote safety for patients, visitors and employees.
  • Requires use of electronic mail, time and attendance software, learning management software and intranet.
  • Must adhere to all DCH Health System policies and procedures.
  • All other duties as assigned.
