About The Position

Under general supervision, is responsible for representing Roosevelt General Hospital (RGH) as an exemplary organization in the region. The Registrar will be the embodiment of the organization’s mission, vision and values. They will greet patients, families and guests upon arrival and assist them in navigating through all aspects of their hospital or clinic visit. The candidate will initiate the department process, inpatient admissions, and transfer paperwork; obtain and verify accurate identification and demographical data for the patient’s permanent medical record and billing. They will coordinate clerical, registration/admission and communication for efficient and effective operations of the department. The candidate will be responsible for assisting patients with insurance options, setting up payment arrangements, collecting insurance co-payments and deposits; obtain comprehensive information to protect the patient’s well-being and the financial interest of the institution.

Requirements

  • High school graduate or equivalent
  • Basic computer knowledge
  • Typing speed: minimum 40 wpm, computer knowledge

Nice To Haves

  • Medical terminology knowledge preferred.
  • Bilingual preferred

Responsibilities

  • Promote the mission, vision, and values of the organization
  • Receive, review, and organize orders to ensure provider signature, diagnosis, ordered study, and date has been provided
  • Responsible for ensuring all services in the Radiology department are authorized
  • Schedule appointments for radiology procedures, such as MRI, CT scans, Ultrasounds, Echocardiograms, and Mammography
  • Follow established protocols for scheduling to ensure the appropriate schedule and timeslots are used
  • Verify patient information to include demographics, insurance, and another other pertinent information
  • Verify patient insurance eligibility by utilizing RGH tools and insurance portals
  • Provide estimates to commercial patients or obtain an estimate declination form
  • Notify patients, with a scheduled procedure, two days in advance for any amount due at the time of service
  • Run ABNs for Medicare patients to ensure they are informed of non-covered services or frequency limits
  • Obtain signatures to include but not limited to Condition of Admission, HIPAA, Contract Service Waiver, Private Pay Notification
  • Provide patients with appointment instructions and prepare them for their procedure
  • Register patients for same-day procedures
  • Answer phone calls and redirect them when appropriate
  • Gather and document pertinent patient information to ensure compliance with safety standards
  • Communicate with providers and other key staff to update the status of a request
  • Direct private pay patients to Financial Counselors prior to registering for services
  • Create CDs for patients requesting the images of their radiology exams
  • Provide QR code information to requesting providers
  • Respond to voicemails within 24 business hours
  • Post payments and provide patients with receipt
  • Daily cash reconciliation and drawer count
  • May be assigned to float to different departments for registrar coverage upon completion of training
