About The Position

Come care for our youngest patients as part of our Level III NICU Respiratory Care team! NICU RTs intubate, go to all C-section and high risk deliveries and perform routine therapies like breathing treatments, ventilator/Vapotherm monitoring/manipulation, Curosurf administration and ABG/CBG's. They work closely with the providers and nursing staff to ensure the best outcomes for our babies! Our RTs are also trained to be a part of the transport team to provide more specialized care.

Requirements

  • BLS Provider obtained within 1 Month (30 days) of hire date or job transfer date required. American Heart Association or American Red Cross accepted.
  • Certification specializing in Neonatal Resuscitation credentialed from the American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP) obtained within 6 Months (180 days) of hire date or job transfer date required.
  • Respiratory Therapist credentialed from the Tennessee Board of Respiratory Care obtained within 6 Months (180 days) of hire date or job transfer date required.
  • Respiratory Therapist specializing in Registered credentialed from the National Board for Respiratory Care (NBRC) obtained within 6 Months (180 days) of hire date or job transfer date required.
  • High School diploma equivalency with 2 years of cumulative experience OR Associate's degree/Technical degree OR 4 years of applicable cumulative job specific experience required.

Nice To Haves

  • Must have at least 1 year of experience working as a Respiratory Therapist in a NICU
  • Transport experience is preferred

Responsibilities

  • Provide evaluation of and care for patients with respiratory insufficiencies.
  • Assess patient for appropriate type and frequency of treatment and develop a plan of care based on diagnosis.
  • Implement and monitor patient care plan and equipment.
  • Monitor, record and communicate patient condition.
  • Perform advanced respiratory care modalities.
  • Evaluate respiratory practice, administration of medications, and treatment based on patient outcome.
  • Educate the patient and family about the health condition and provide information about community support groups and other available programs.
  • Respond to emergency resuscitation team code.
