About The Position

Life Without Barriers' National Immigration Support Service (NISS) provides compassionate, culturally safe, and trauma-informed support to asylum seekers and refugees in Australia. This role involves providing clinical assessments, support, and evidence-based therapy to these clients. The psychologist will assess cognitive, emotional, behavioural, and daily living capabilities, support clients through major life transitions with skill-building and coping strategies via individual and group therapy, and track client progress while collaborating with stakeholders. Additionally, the position includes providing training and guidance to caseworkers and staff on therapeutic approaches and incident management. This role is crucial in helping clients navigate life transitions, improve mental health, and achieve goals while awaiting visa decisions.

Requirements

  • Tertiary qualifications in Psychology with full registration (provisional psychologists are not accepted)
  • Clinical or forensic psychology experience, with a strong understanding of clinical governance frameworks
  • Experience with Culturally and Linguistically Diverse (CALD) and Diverse Backgrounds
  • Skilled in collaborative work with multidisciplinary and external support agencies
  • Experienced in delivering flexible, client-focused interventions, including outreach and e-health
  • Ability to implement client and family-centred approaches, with cultural sensitivity towards diverse communities
  • Current driver’s licence
  • Successful candidates will be required to clear probity checks including National Criminal History Record Check and WA Working with Children Check
