Under the general supervision of a licensed physician, the Registered Polysomnographic Technologist provides comprehensive evaluation and treatment of sleep disorders involving polysomnography diagnostic and therapeutic services.   • Polysomnographic services endorsement Tennessee Tennessee Board of Medical Examiners
  • Demonstrates competency in performing polysomnographic procedures, including knowledge of event characteristics (e.g., respiratory, cardiac, sleep stage, seizures, etc.) and ability to take appropriate action.
  • Ability to summarize and report polysomnographic data in narrative form.
  • Basic computer operations skills including use of Windows operating system.
  • Positive interpersonal skills with patients, their families, physicians, department staff and other members of hospital staff.
  • Ability to work without close supervision and to exercise independent judgment in a professional area.
  • Ability to organize multiple tasks and projects and maintain control of own and others’ work flow.

Responsibilities

  • Performs polysomnographic procedures on patients under the general supervision of the physician (or designee) to provide comprehensive evaluation and treatment of sleep disorders.
  • Gathers and analyzes patient information.
  • Performs test preparation procedures.
  • Performs polysomnographic record scoring.
  • Demonstrates professional work behavior and excellent customer service routinely in all interactions.
  • Performs other job functions as assigned or requested.
