On-the-job training will be provided. Work conditions include working by oneself during late night hours. Primarily sitting and monitoring recordings in laboratory setting. Very little human contact once patient goes to sleep. Must be able to work with limited supervision. Must act in a professional manner at all times due to sensitive nature of study. The purpose of the test is stated, but it is the technician's duty to broadly interpret the general instructions to adapt them to the needs of the patient. Innovation is a necessary skill and there will be an occasional need to develop new methods of observation. Must monitor patient for any distress and acts in an appropriate manner. Must be flexible with work hours and be willing to work extra hours as required. Performs sleep studies and scoring procedures that require independent judgment, ingenuity, and initiative under the direction of a physician and assistant patient services manager.
