About The Position

This is a professional position specializing in nursing oversight for the implementation of medical, nursing, and allied health policies, procedures, and regulations for the Agency for Persons with Disabilities. The employee in this position must exercise independent judgment in formulating program policies and providing technical assistance and oversight to Regional, community, and institutional staff. Oversees the development and implementation of medical nursing policies and procedures for the Agency for Persons with Disabilities.

Requirements

  • Four years of professional nursing experience, two years of which must have been in a supervisory or administrative capacity.
  • Must have a valid Driver’s License or other efficient means of transportation to travel for work purposes and willing to travel up to 25% of work time to community locations in Florida.
  • Minimum of two years of experience working with individuals with development/intellectual disabilities.
  • Knowledge of Nursing principles, practices, and clinical techniques.
  • Knowledge of Methods of compiling, organizing, and analyzing data.
  • Use Microsoft Word, Outlook, Excel, and the creation of Power Point presentations.
  • Ability to Develop, evaluate and implement aspects of the nursing process.
  • Ability to Organize work, coordinate with others as necessary, and work independently.
  • Ability to Communicate effectively with strong verbal and written communication skills including public speaking.
  • Ability to Develop and conduct trainings.
  • Ability to Develop program policy, procedures, rules, manuals, and other agreements.
  • Ability to Understand and apply applicable rules, regulations, policies, and procedures.
  • Ability to Prioritize workload.
  • Ability to Develop reports.

Responsibilities

  • Consultation and statewide oversight of Florida Administrative Rule 65G-7 Medication Administration. Technical assistance to regional staff and community stakeholders on all medication administration rule issues.
  • Consultation and statewide oversight of reporting of death, data aggregation, trending, and analysis. Coordinates the data aggregation of vital statistics reporting and regional reporting.
  • Provides consultation and develops/participates in program policy, operating procedures, handbooks, manuals, the client data management system, rules, and agreements.
  • Consultation and technical assistance for all health-related support and services, and training.
  • Participates in quality improvement initiatives of the Agency, inclusive of data aggregation, trending and analysis, and collaboration with the Quality Improvement Organization (QIO).
  • Consultation for Group Home Medical Review programmatic contract monitoring and reporting.
  • Provides consultation on eligibility reviews, SANs, Crisis Referrals, MCM Reports/reviews, and Incident Reports upon request.
  • Consultant for Agency lawsuits and settlement agreements.
  • Participates in quarterly Region specific & Statewide MCM conference calls and reviews follow-up actions that emerge from the quarterly conference calls.
  • Works with contracted vendors and agency staff.
  • Consultation as requested for APD facility activities to assure compliance with nursing standards and policies.
  • Specialized projects as requested (includes Legislative Budget Requests).
  • Agency representative in hearings, meetings and staffing as requested.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
