About The Position

Works under the supervision of the Imaging department leader and is responsible for assessment, planning, implementing, and evaluating the total nursing care of assigned patients. The RN may work in a variety of settings in the Imaging Department (Riverside Diagnostic Center, MRI, CT, Ultrasound, and Nuclear Medicine). The RN utilizes communication, critical thinking, problem solving, and decision making to create a care plan for each patient based on physiological, psychosocial and cultural diversity. Supports call for emergent cases at a level II trauma center. Works under the direction of leadership and a multi-disciplinary team to provide a comprehensive range of services or clinical care associated with and in accordance with standards of excellence established by Riverside Health system and facility goals and strategic plans. What you will do Assess patient before, during, and after administration of conscious sedation and provide appropriate care. Physiologic measurement monitoring should include, but not be limited to, respiratory rate, oxygen saturation, blood pressure, cardiac rate and rhythm, and patient's level of consciousness per moderate sedation protocol. Administers procedures including, but not limited to, conscious sedation, guided-needle biopsies and drains, catheter insertion, guided ablation, IV starts, and chest tube insertion under direction of Provider. Ability to delegate and prioritize tasks appropriately to facilitate quality patient care and ensure patient care needs are met. Able to recognize and respond to emergency situations. Evaluates own needs for support and uses identified systems to meet need. Demonstrates a sense of urgency to facilitate patient throughput to assure patients receive consistent, competent, and ethical care. Focuses on quality outcomes of patient care when addressing customer’s needs to include current evidence based practice and quality measures. Demonstrate competence in dealing with needs of the specific patient populations, including critical care patients, served in Imaging Services and ability to modify education method to ensure patient/family comprehension. Educates by assuming responsibility to individualize and coordinate patient education, and discharge specific education that includes family/caregiver. Evaluates for patient comprehension and documents. Partners with patients and families to develop, implement and evaluate plan of care, treatments and procedures that contribute to the physiological and psychosocial outcomes of the patient. Assesses and incorporates evidence-based standards of practice. Collaborates with interdisciplinary team in the coordination care. Facilitates safe patient transitions to the next care setting as part of plan of care. Accurately completes all required clinical and quality documentation consistently per RHS standards and regulatory requirements. Review reports such as monthly imaging data, moderate sedation audits, biopsy reports, and crash cart files.

Requirements

  • Bachelors Degree, Nursing (Preferred) or Associates Degree, Nursing (Preferred) or Program Graduate, Nursing (Nursing Diploma is minimum education requirement, Associate’s or Bachelor’s in Nursing accepted in lieu of Nursing Diploma) (Required) and High School Diploma or GED, HS Diploma/GED only required if Nursing Diploma Graduate (Required)
  • 1 year Related Experience (Preferred)
  • Registered Nurse (RN) - Virginia Department of Health Professions (VDHP) Licensed as Registered Nurse by the state of Virginia or compact state Upon Hire(Required)
  • CPR/BLS Certification - American Heart Association/American Red Cross/American Safety and Health Institute (AHA/ARC) Upon Hire(Required)
  • ACLS Provider - American Heart Association/American Red Cross/American Safety and Health Institute (AHA/ARC) Upon Hire(Required)
  • Call Rotation

Responsibilities
