About The Position

This full-time Registered Nurse position at Levine Cancer, specifically within the GI/GU department at Carolinas Medical Center - Morehead, involves a 40-hour work week from Monday to Friday, 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM. The role is eligible for a sign-on bonus. Key responsibilities include identifying patient outcomes, implementing and coordinating individualized treatment plans, providing education and counseling to patients and families on health needs and medications, and meeting the specific clinical needs of oncology and infusion patients. The nurse will also be responsible for recognizing medication incompatibilities and performing facility acuity coding, ensuring thorough documentation to support the selected level of service. Requirements

  • Graduate from an accredited School of Nursing required.
  • Current licensure to practice as a Registered Nurse or temporary license as a Registered Nurse Petitioner in the state of applicable state required.
  • BLS required per policy guidelines.

Nice To Haves

  • BSN preferred.
  • Oncology experience preferred.
  • Proficiency in IV therapy, bone marrow, spinals, thoracenteses, paracenteses and phlebotomy preferred.
  • Oncology certification preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Identifies expected outcomes for patients' individualized treatment plan.
  • Implements identified treatment plan and coordinates all aspects of care delivery.
  • Provides education and counseling to patient and family members regarding identified health needs, health care activities, immunization requirements, medication effects and contraindications.
  • Meets specific clinical needs of oncology and infusion patients by using knowledge and expertise.
  • Recognizes medication mid solution incompatibilities and factors affecting stability.
  • Performs facility acuity coding by selecting the appropriate level of service for a diverse patient population, ensures that all pertinent clinical information is documented in the patient's medical record and supports the level of service selected.
