The Registered Nurse will be responsible for timely and accurate assessment, planning, and delivery of nursing care to patients, including contacting practitioners for orders, administering medications and treatments, and providing emergency first aid. This role involves checking and recording vital signs, performing diagnostic tests, triaging officer intake screenings, and collecting data for statistical reporting. The nurse will also record information in chronic clinic and outcome study documents, report patient reactions and changes, and provide patient education. Maintaining aseptic techniques, infection control, and demonstrating knowledge of pharmacology, therapeutic diets, and social/behavioral sciences in a correctional setting are essential. The position also includes recommending improved procedures, notifying supervisors of incidents, participating in in-service education, performing duties within the scope of practice, maintaining patient confidentiality, and overseeing/delegating duties as allowed. The nurse may be required to cover shifts at multiple correctional facilities, act as a back-up to the H.S.A/Site Manager, and train new hires and coworkers.
