About The Position

NYU Langone Hospital—Long Island is a 591-bed university-affiliated medical center offering sophisticated diagnostic and therapeutic care across various specialties. This Per Diem Registered Nurse position in the Medical ICU involves practicing in accordance with the American Nurses Association's (ANA) scope and standards of nursing practice. The successful candidate will use clinical expertise to plan and deliver safe, therapeutic, population-specific patient care through assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation, always keeping the patient and family central to the care process. The role requires collaborative work within a multidisciplinary healthcare team to promote wellness and optimize patient outcomes, providing leadership through orienting, mentoring, and managing team members to ensure quality care. The nurse will also participate in performance improvement initiatives impacting patient, family, and service outcomes based on professional practice standards.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Nursing required for employees hired after 9/1/2020 (those who were hired prior to 9/1/2020 are grandfathered)
  • Current and valid New York State Registered Professional Nurse license
  • Current and valid BLS certification
  • Knowledge of standards of practice for all areas of patient care
  • Excellent communication (oral and written), organizational, customer service, and interpersonal skills
  • Basic computer skills
  • 1 - 2 years Nursing
