About The Position

Are you looking for a teaching environment that will challenge your knowledge and skills surrounding surgical nursing in the Operating Room? As the eyes, the ears, and voice of the patient during one of the most vulnerable points in their healthcare journey, you will learn to work closely with surgeons, residents, advanced practice clinicians, anesthesiologists, surgical technologists and others to provide superior surgical outcomes. Our expanding operating room serves adult patients across multiple surgical specialties, including but not limited to: Neurosurgery, Orthopedics, Cardiothoracic, Plastics, ENT, General Surgery, Gynecology, Transplant, Ambulatory Surgery and much more! Your orientation and practice environment will be rooted in both the specialty standards and educational programs of the Association of perioperative Nurses (AORN). This full-time perioperative residency includes training in the circulator role, with many opportunities to learn and grow in the future. Our 5-month orientation program for perioperative nursing includes: A hybrid blend of didactic classroom education and hands-on clinical application. Digital education from AORN’s Periop 101 Curriculum. Skills labs with a dedicated OR education team. Simulation and role-playing to grow confidence in a new clinical environment. Shadowing within multiple departments to understand intraoperative continuity of care.

Requirements

  • Completion of an accredited or approved program in nursing
  • Registered Nurse license issued by the state in which the teammate practices
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Providers certification issued by the American Heart Association

Responsibilities

  • Providing and coordinating comprehensive patient care through the nursing process
  • Delivering safe, therapeutic care in accordance with established standards, policies, and procedures
  • Using evidence-based practice, clinical decision making, compassion, and skills communication while leading efforts to create the safest patient environment and the best patient experience across the continuum
