The Division of Comprehensive Health Services provides evidence-based, compassionate, and constitutionally consistent medical care to all offenders in custody. Their goal is to ensure that all offenders receive full-spectrum medical care from the time of entry until their release. The team of physicians, nurses, behavioral health services, dental services, psychiatric services, pharmacy services, and licensed healthcare administration services work together to provide emergent, acute, routine, and chronic health care, as well as preventive medicine at all prison facilities. They also coordinate with specialists and other clinical consultants outside of prisons throughout the state to ensure comprehensive health and well-being towards a safe transition from prison, improving public health, and decreasing recidivism.
