About The Position

Compass Government Solutions is seeking experienced Registered Nurses (RNs) to support the Emergency Department (ED) and Transfer Center at Naval Medical Center Portsmouth, which provide 24/7 emergency and trauma care to active-duty service members, retirees, and their families. Emergency Department RNs play a critical role in delivering high-quality, patient-centered care in a fast-paced clinical environment while collaborating with a multidisciplinary healthcare team. This opportunity is part of a proposal effort. We are currently accepting applications from experienced candidates to be considered if the contract is awarded. Incumbents are encouraged to apply. Work Schedule: Eight (8) hour schedule, Monday through Friday, 0730–1630 Alternative work schedules may be implemented, including compressed schedules (e.g., 8–10 hour shifts, 4–5 shifts per week) Work hours shall not exceed 40 hours per week and not exceed 80 hours per two-week period

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN)
  • Graduate from a college or university nursing program accredited by the National League for Nursing Accrediting Commission (NLNAC) or the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE)
  • OR
  • Graduate from:
  • A state-accredited professional nursing program, or
  • A nursing program accredited by the Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing (ACEN) or the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE)
  • Minimum of one (1) year of experience in emergency nursing
  • Current, full, active, and unrestricted Registered Nurse (RN) license from any U.S. state or territory
  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS)
  • Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS)
  • Trauma Nurse Core Course (TNCC)
  • and/or
  • Advanced Trauma Care for Nurses (ATCN)

Responsibilities

  • Provide emergency nursing care in collaboration with physicians, advanced practice providers, and interdisciplinary healthcare teams
  • Perform patient assessments, obtain health histories, and deliver timely clinical interventions
  • Administer medications, provide wound and trauma care, and deliver other individualized nursing treatments
  • Recognize and respond rapidly to changes in patient condition and emergency situations
  • Coordinate patient care, referrals, and specialty services as appropriate
  • Supervise and clinically direct assigned support staff in accordance with scope of practice
  • Educate patients and families to support treatment plans and health outcomes
  • Ensure compliance with applicable standards of care, clinical practice guidelines, and MTF policies
  • Maintain productivity comparable to peers performing similar services
  • Comply with infection control, safety, and risk management requirements
  • Participate in peer review, performance improvement, and quality assurance activities
  • Complete all required MTF and DoD annual training
  • Participate in meetings, in-service training, and clinical support activities as directed
  • Perform timely, accurate, and complete documentation using authorized clinical systems (e.g., MHS GENESIS)
  • Maintain professional accountability, licensure, and required certifications
