About The Position

Responsible for working with other healthcare professionals to help treat patients with various injuries, illnesses or disabilities. Monitors patients, administers medications, keeps records, consults with healthcare providers, educates patients and more. Patient Assessment; Perform systematic, comprehensive, and accurate assessments. Assess potential discharge needs during the initial assessment process. Monitor effects of medications and treatments and report adverse effects in a timely manner. Assess patient for pain level. Provide appropriate intervention, reassessment, and documentation. Systematically monitor the maintenance of protocols, standards, and plans of care. Plans and provides individualized patient education. Demonstrate competent clinical skills. Perform nursing-related skills and activities competently. Analyze situations critically. Maintain complete and accurate documentation. Identify and document realistic long and short-term goals. Complete interdisciplinary plan of care record. Participate in interdisciplinary rounds. Evaluate the effectiveness of interventions and revise the plan of care as needed. Recognize and evaluate patient and family responses to therapies and nursing interventions. Communicate clearly and effectively with all members of the healthcare team. Complete hand-off communication and give complete reports to other caregivers. Demonstrate critical thinking and time management skills necessary for effective patient care. Assume responsibility and accountability for the safe nursing care of assigned patients. Delegate responsibilities appropriately to others. Conducts regular patient rounds to ensure safety and enhance patient experience. Actively participates in daily interdisciplinary huddles to support coordinated care. Utilizes approved clinical communication tools (e.g., Vocera) in accordance with organizational standards. Adhere to OSHA, Joint Commission, Standards of Nursing Practice supported by NJ BON, professional association, ANA Code of Ethics & Scope of Standards and Practice NJ Board of Health, and hospital standards. Use two patient identifiers and check allergies before medication administration. Follow hand washing protocols and maintain isolation precautions. Properly use and store equipment, checking expiration dates. Demonstrates leadership and function as a resource/mentor. Actively participates in Shared Governance.

Requirements

  • Graduate of an accredited Nursing Program
  • Current state licensure as a Registered Nurse
  • BLS certification
  • ACLS certification
  • Minimum of two years acute care nursing experience required
  • One year of Critical Care experience preferred

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor’s degree in nursing
  • All ASN must complete their BSN studies within five years of their start date
  • Master's degree in nursing or related field
