About The Position

Beloit Health System is hiring for a Registered Nurse Weekender to join their Cardiac Float Pool at Beloit Memorial Hospital. In this position, the Registered Nurse Weekender in the Cardiac Float Pool will provide nursing care for patients across several units throughout the hospital, including the Cardiac Intensive Care Unit, Intermediate, Emergency Room, and the Cardiac Cath Lab.

Requirements

  • Graduate of accredited school of nursing.
  • ADN, Diploma, BSN or MSN degree acceptable.
  • State of Wisconsin or multistate nursing licensure required. (Must request WI licensure within 30 days).
  • Must be BLS certified within three months of hire.
  • ACLS certification required within 6 months of hire.
  • Requires the ability to work independently, and to react calmly and effectively in emergency situations.
  • Telemetry trained within 6 months of hire.
  • NIHSS certification within 6 months of hire.
  • ASLS certification within 12 months of hire.
  • Glucometer training within 6 months of hire.
  • Moderate sedation training within 6 months of hire.
  • CRRT, IABP, Cardiothoracic surgery trained within 12 months of hire.
  • Requires excellent communication and counseling technique.
  • Ability to interpret, adapt, and apply proper procedures to Beloit Health System policies.
  • Successful completion of pre-placement physical examination.

Responsibilities

  • Appropriately assesses basic physical, psychological and social needs of patients and their families.
  • Effectively plans patient care with patient and family involvement.
  • Consistently implements the patient's plan of care.
  • Accurately evaluates patient's health status in relation to outcomes of nursing interventions/medical therapies.
  • Provides patient/family education appropriately.
  • Strictly adheres to infection control policies including body substance isolation and blood born pathogen precautions.
  • Actively participates in Quality Improvement program.
  • Performs unit specific duties according to established unit-based competencies.
  • Completes documentation according to policy.
  • Effectively sets goals and priorities for provision of care to a group of patients according to acuity.
  • Ensures patient safety while handling, transporting and providing medications to patients; protects patients from various hazards, falls, disease exposure, etc.
  • Demonstrates ability to perform functions accurately and efficiently with computer software application appropriate to position.
  • Collaborates with other disciplines to meet patient's needs.
  • Other duties as assigned.
  • Perform the following activities (evaluation, treatment, and patient care) for patients in one or more of the following age groups: neonatal, pediatric, adolescent, adult, and geriatric.
