About The Position

This position is for a Staff Registered Nurse: Tertiary Care specializing in Vascular Access at Lahey Hospital & Medical Center, part of the growing BILH team. The role is part-time, 24 hours per week, day shifts, including every 3rd weekend rotation. The nurse will practice within the Lahey Clinic Professional Practice Model, MA Nurse Practice Act, ANA Standards of Practice and Code of Ethics, demonstrating Lahey Clinic’s core values. The role emphasizes the nurse-patient/family relationship, continuity of care, and accountability in delivering individualized high-quality patient care. The Staff Registered Nurse is responsible for the plan of care, decision-making in assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation, and facilitates coordination of care. The role involves utilizing complete computerized charting (EPIC) for patient assessment, care documentation, and electronic medication administration. The nurse is expected to maintain current knowledge and skills with technical procedures, comply with regulations and standards, and be currently licensed in Massachusetts. The position also involves delegation and supervision in accordance with the Nurse Practice Act and ANA Principles of Delegation.

Requirements

  • State of Massachusetts RN licensure (or eligibility)
  • ASN (Associate of Science in Nursing)
  • Current license to practice professional nursing from the Massachusetts Board of Registration
  • BLS certification from American Heart Association or American Red Cross.
  • Demonstrates the necessary clinical skills and technical knowledge to provide care for patients according to Nursing Policy and Procedures.
  • Demonstrates the necessary clinical skills and knowledge to provide care for patients according to the unit-specific competencies.
  • Excellent interpersonal and organizational skills.

Nice To Haves

  • BSN (Bachelor of Science in Nursing) preferred
  • At least one year of nursing experience in acute or sub-acute setting preferred
  • Vascular Access experience preferred

Responsibilities

  • Provide safe patient care by demonstrating organizational skills that maintain and coordinate safe delivery of quality care for assigned patients/families.
  • Develop a culturally competent plan of care that identifies patient problems, expected outcomes, and addresses preventative measures.
  • Perform systematic patient and family assessment relevant to practice settings.
  • Deliver care that is specific to the age of the patient.
  • Evaluate effectiveness of care and adapt plan based on patient/family response.
  • Establish professional relationship with nurses, physicians and other colleagues and patients and families.
  • Educate the patient and family about the patient’s illness and treatment including preventative measures appropriate to the patient.
  • Support Lahey Clinics commitment to community based activities both within the Lahey community and beyond.
  • Demonstrate professional behavior by adhering to unit policies and procedures, practice guidelines specific to the setting and the ANA Code of Ethics.
