The Telemetry/Observation Unit is a 30-bed unit specializing in cardiac, medical, and surgical patients. The unit offers an individualized, comprehensive orientation program, a residency program for new graduates, and a mentorship program after orientation. It provides Basic Rhythm course, ACLS certification, and NIHSS course. There is an opportunity for committee participation and a voice in nursing practice, with leadership presence on every shift. This role is described as the first steppingstone to an ICU/CCU career. The Registered Nurse is responsible and accountable for implementing, directing and coordinating the care of patients through the use of the nursing process: assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation. This includes recognition and treatment of the physical and psychosocial changes unique to the age/population group served on the specific unit.
