About The Position

Fort Sanders Regional Medical Center is a 444-bed hospital known for combining clinical expertise with advanced medical technology to provide exceptional care. It is recognized as a Joint Commission Comprehensive Stroke Center and offers specialized services including bariatric surgery, robotic surgery, minimally invasive spine procedures, and advanced orthopedic care. Fort Sanders Regional is part of Covenant Health, East Tennessee’s largest nonprofit health system, which has been recognized as a Becker’s “Top 150 Places to Work in Healthcare.” Covenant Health operates nine hospitals and nearly 150 service locations. The position involves providing professional nursing care within an assigned unit and coordinating care planning with other disciplines. RNs in this role must adhere to the working hours specified by the Tier 3 commitment agreement.

Requirements

  • Education sufficient to meet the standards for achievement of a Tennessee State RN license.
  • New graduate, within first (1st) year of orientation.
  • Must have and maintain Tennessee State RN license.

Responsibilities

  • Completes nursing history and initiates patient education (for RNs with less than 1 year of experience).
  • Collaborates with interdisciplinary team members (for RNs with less than 1 year of experience).
  • Implements plan of care appropriate to diagnosis (for RNs with less than 1 year of experience).
  • Evaluates care outcomes (for RNs with less than 1 year of experience).
  • Problem solves and coordinates unit/patient care assignments, with supervision (for RNs with less than 1 year of experience).
  • Introduces new employees/students to unit routines (for RNs with less than 1 year of experience).
  • Participates on unit-based committees (for RNs with less than 1 year of experience).
  • Demonstrates competence in performing critical skills (checklist) to include appropriate delivery of care according to the age-specific needs of the population served (for RNs with less than 1 year of experience).
  • Supervises LPNs, Nursing Assistants, HUCs, Techs and sitters (for RNs with less than 1 year of experience).
  • Follows policies, procedures, and safety standards (for RNs with less than 1 year of experience).
  • Completes required education assignments annually (for RNs with less than 1 year of experience).
  • Works toward achieving goals and objectives, and participates in quality improvement initiatives as requested (for RNs with less than 1 year of experience).
  • Performs other duties as assigned (for RNs with less than 1 year of experience).
  • Correlates patient history and support systems within hospital care/nursing home care (for RNs with 1 or more years of experience).
  • Assesses learning needs of patient and family (for RNs with 1 or more years of experience).
  • Develops and initiates plan of care, involving patient and family (for RNs with 1 or more years of experience).
  • Recommends interventions (for RNs with 1 or more years of experience).
  • Evaluates plan of care (for RNs with 1 or more years of experience).
  • Resolves problems regarding moderately complex issues without oversight or supervision (for RNs with 1 or more years of experience).
  • Demonstrates willingness to precept employees/students as directed (for RNs with 1 or more years of experience).
  • Reviews clinical performance of preceptee with unit leader or clinical instructor (for RNs with 1 or more years of experience).
