Requirements

  • Licensure as a Registered Professional Nurse in accordance with Florida Statute 464 and two years of professional nursing experience.
  • Registered Nurse nursing experience requires a RN license for the specified years.

Responsibilities

  • Supervising nursing staff and Human Service Worker I and II's.
  • Assist the Registered Nursing Consultant and Senior Registered Nursing Supervisor in the management of all Medical Services Core Processes/Quality Measures.
  • Maintains a working knowledge of the hospitals mission statement, vision, values, long-term strategic objectives, annual business plans objectives, organizational structure and NEFSH operating processes relevant to your assigned duties and responsibilities.
  • Assists in the preparation of subordinate ward schedules within time frames.
  • Reviews leave and attendance records, and recommends approval of leave requests of subordinates to next level supervisor for final approval.
  • Reconciles and completes time in Kronos for assigned staff.
  • Supervises assigned subordinates in their area of responsibility.
  • Conducts Performance Reviews for subordinate staff pointing out strong and weak points as an ongoing evaluation of performance.
  • Immediately investigates any complaints received against subordinate staff, conducts Investigatory Conferences and takes appropriate action including discipline.
  • Provide on-the-job training including orientation of new employees to the residential living areas and ensures subordinate staff attends all required training.
  • Attends management meetings, and participates in a positive manner relaying information to subordinates on a weekly basis through meetings with subordinates.
  • Maintains minutes of meetings with subordinates.
  • Prepares daily work assignments for subordinates on assigned shift.
  • Treats customers, public and staff with courtesy, respect, dignity and presents a positive image to ensure optimum customer satisfaction.
  • Oversees, monitors and assists with Quality of Life issues which include environmental surroundings of living areas to ensure proper atmosphere, facilities, equipment, supplies and maintenance of Infection Control Standards which are conducive to the care and treatment of those we serve.
  • Directs the work of subordinates to ensure the best use of time and resources.
  • Ensures that safety precautions are implemented and hazards are removed.
  • Reports discrepancies to immediate supervisor and assigns corrective action to subordinates.
  • Completes required Quality of Life Checklist weekly.
  • Conducts or ensures that environmental and safety walk-through inspections are completed hourly.
  • Monitors compliance with Standards of Community Living.
  • Assist in the planning, coordinating and implementing of treatment and rehabilitation programs in coordination with the residential living area treatment teams.
  • Uses proper nursing techniques and procedure, infection control, restraint, seclusion, and performs emergency action activities.
  • Assigns staff for specialized individual observation.
  • Observes those we serve behavior and communicates significant changes in behavior and/or physical condition, incidents, events, and documents as required by applicable NEFSH Operating Procedures.
  • Reviews scheduled individual's activities and ensures individual's attendance.
  • Assigns and/or participates in those we serve escort activities.
  • Monitors individuals advocate program and ensures duties as stated in NEFSH “Resident Advocate” Policy and Procedure are provided by assigned subordinates.
  • Assigns and participates individuals who need it with activities of daily living (ADL) grooming and personal hygiene.
  • Teaches individuals and subordinates how to function within the Standards of Community Living guidelines.
  • Prompts individuals to attend all therapeutic groups.
  • Ensures the SGA individuals are given leisure time off their living area daily at least one (1) hour in morning and one (1) hour in afternoon.
  • Monitors assigned staff’s attendance and participation in the treatment team meetings to assure improvement of treatment planning efficiencies and continuity of care.
  • Monitors subordinate staff’s participation in the implementation of group/individual therapy programs including but not limited to behavioral modification, recreational/occupational therapy, and reality orientation and the documentation of those we serve participation as appropriate.
  • Attends treatment team and case management meetings implementing group/individual therapy programs as listed above as necessary.
  • Participates in training applicable to treatment and rehabilitation activities.
  • Completes Unusual Incident Reports as necessary.
  • Conducts reviews of all incidents during assigned shift and provides comments to SRNS upon request.
  • Completes Supervisor’s Accident and Injury Report as necessary and submits to RNC for review and recommendation.
  • Completes Daily Work Assignment sheet for subordinates and ensures compliance with living area and zone coverage requirements, escort availability for medical, dental, and appointments at off-grounds facilities, and that mandatory staff training is completed.
  • Attend and assist with unit activities (i.e., Family Fun Day, Unit Parties, Trips, etc.).
  • Attends Award Ceremony and performs related duties as assigned.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
