About The Position

The Registered Nurse (RN) at Dungarvin will ensure that each individual on their caseload receives high-quality, individualized health care management to achieve optimal health. Health care will be delivered in a normalizing, sensitive, and respectful manner, promoting dignity and autonomy. The RN serves as a health resource for staff and, in collaboration with supervisors, will ensure that the home complies with all licensure requirements and organizational policies related to health issues, medical care, and records. Dungarvin is a mission-driven team focused on respect, response, and choice, providing person-centered supports to help individuals live as independently as possible, especially those with intellectual or developmental disabilities or complex medical needs. Requirements

  • Current, valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of New Mexico is mandatory.
  • Valid driver's license, vehicle insurance, and a driving record that meets agency insurance policy requirements are non-negotiable.
  • Competency in computer software applications is imperative.
  • Demonstrated maturity, flexibility, and self-motivation are essential.
  • Proven dependability and ability to work cooperatively with individuals, staff, interdisciplinary team members, and outside agencies are crucial.
  • Successful clearance of a criminal background check for licensing requirement
  • Good communication is key in this role. You’ll rely on your reading, writing, and communication skills to document care, follow support plans, and collaborate with both internal and external team members.

Nice To Haves

  • Prior education and/or experience in working with developmentally disabled individuals, long-term care, or home health care is highly valued.

Responsibilities

  • Assess each individual’s health care needs on an annual and “as needed” basis to be determined by the interdisciplinary team.
  • Assure medical referrals and orders are secured to meet the medical needs of the individuals.
  • Assure physician’s orders, including medications and treatments are implemented as ordered.
  • Identify potential sources of communicable diseases and implement appropriate protection and preventative measures.
  • Report the presence of communicable diseases to appropriate personnel and agencies as deemed necessary per state, federal regulations and organizational policies.
  • Provide and participate in an individual’s health care related instruction in cooperation with Program Directors.
  • Assist in the coordination of use of outside health care related professionals, promoting the quality and availability of their services.
  • Act as a liaison between medical professionals and Dungarvin staff.
  • Monitor the services the services are of quality and meet individual needs.
