Join our dedicated and collaborative Inpatient Oncology Unit, a 36-bed progressive care environment specializing in the treatment of patients with underlying malignancies. Our team delivers high-quality, compassionate care to individuals undergoing complex surgical procedures and medical oncology treatments in a fast-paced, supportive setting. Primary Patient Population (60%) – Surgical Oncology: Pre-operative and post-operative care for patients with solid tumors: Including but not limited to Gynecologic (GYN) cancers, Gastrointestinal (GI) cancers, and Head and Neck (ENT) cancers Progressive care/step-down level monitoring and interventions Pain management, wound care, drain care, and post-surgical recovery support Secondary Patient Population (30%) – Medical Oncology: Care of patients receiving chemotherapy, immunotherapy, and/or radiation therapy Symptom management for cancer-related complications Supportive care for patients with advanced or metastatic disease Tertiary Patient Population (10%) – General Medical/Surgical: Patients requiring intermediate care in an acute setting non-related to underlying malignancies Our unit fosters a culture of excellence, teamwork, and continuous learning, making it an ideal environment for nurses passionate about oncology and surgical care. Atrium Health Navicent- The Medical Center is a nationally recognized academic medical center, nationally-verified Level 1 Trauma Center, Magnet ® hospital for nursing, and serves a service area of 30 counties and a population of nearly 750,000 persons. MCNH has over 4,500 employees and a medical staff of approximately 700 physicians. As the second largest hospital in Georgia, it is licensed for 637 beds, including pediatrics, medical surgical, trauma and cardiac surgery. The Atrium Health Navicent Emergency Department, with helipad capability and three urgent care centers, treats over 140,000 visitors per year. MCNH provides a broad range of community-based outpatient diagnostic, primary care, wellness and comprehensive rehabilitation services. It is the primary academic hospital for Mercer University School of Medicine, providing residency and fellowship programs for over 100 residents and is affiliated with multiple universities as a clinical education site.
