Requirements

  • Applicants should have a current Kentucky or compact state RN license and possess an associate’s degree from an accredited nursing school.
  • BLS & ACLS required

Nice To Haves

  • OCN Certified Nursing preferred
  • Chemotherapy Certified preferred, required within 6 months of hire
  • Two years chemo/infusion experience preferred
  • Bachelor’s Degree Nursing (BSN) preferred

Responsibilities

  • Provides direct patient care to patients using the nursing process in accordance with applicable scope and standards of practice.
  • Performs plan of care intervention, including medication administration, specimen collection, clinical treatments, as well as other medical care treatment.
  • Documents patient care given.
  • Communicates patient condition as appropriate to care team, physician, patient, and family.
  • Detects change in patient status, reports to appropriate health care team member and utilizes resources as dictated by the acuity. Assigns priorities to the patient’s problems with highest priority given to problems that are most urgent and critical.
  • Assists patients with performing activities of daily living, including personal hygiene, elimination, nutrition, and ambulation.
  • Collaborates as needed across disciplines to coordinate patient care, including patient transfer, discharge, referral and spiritual/psychosocial support needs.
  • Evaluates learning needs of patient and/or family and provides patient/family education appropriate to age, culture, condition, and circumstances.
  • Insures completion of requests for diagnostic work and support services.
  • Counts narcotics according to policy and procedure.
