Beacon Health System is hiring a full-time night-shift Registered Nurse for our Regional Center Joint Replacement at Elkhart General Hospital in Elkhart, IN. Our full-service, 357-licensed-bed hospital has served the community for more than 100 years with a variety of services including: Emergency Department; radiology; orthopedics; maternity, pregnancy, and childbirth; behavioral health; imaging and lab; genetic counseling; DaVinci robotic surgery. As part of Beacon Health System, patients have access to providers not only at this location but can also access resources and services from across the entire health system. As a Regional Center Joint Replacement Registered Nurse, you'll report to the Director of Regional Center Joint Replacement and provide professional nursing services. You'll establish strong patient and family relationships. You'll collaborate with other professional, clinical, and ancillary staff in providing quality care to patients. Display strong teamwork. You'll exhibit self-care and self-knowing to be empathetic and compassionate with every interaction.

Requirements

  • Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) is required. Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) is preferred.
  • Current license to practice as a Registered Nurse in Indiana.
  • Candidates hired after January 1, 2014, must have or obtain a BSN within five (5) years of employment as a Registered Nurse or will have the option to become certified in their area of specialty. The certification must be maintained based off accrediting body standards.

Responsibilities

  • Exhibit self-care as evidenced by balancing workload and scheduling lunch breaks.
  • Schedule and utilize vacation days to renew/refresh as appropriate.
  • Recognize stress or situational frustration while on duty and take respite time as appropriate.
  • Accept accountability and responsibility to address issues and conflicts. Follow up with the unit director as needed.
  • Act as a role model and precepts new associates as requested.
  • Communicate, collaborate, and function with other members of the health team to provide safe and effective care.
  • Collaborative rounds with physicians.
  • Clean concise communication of patient condition using nursing communication M page during all hand offs including bedside report.
  • Participate in shift briefs, debriefs, and hurdles to improve communication, patient care, and teamwork.
  • Plan care which includes goals and prioritized nursing approaches/measures derived from the nursing diagnosis.
  • Accept responsibility for individual nursing actions and continued competence.
  • Take ownership and pride in their job.
  • Respect the dignity and rights of the patient regardless of socioeconomic status, personal attributes, or nature of health problem.
  • Formulate nursing diagnosis based on accessible, communicable, and recorded data, which is collected, in a systematic and continuous manner.
  • Assess the patient in a systematic, organized manner.
  • Implement strategies to provide for patient and family participation in health, promotion, maintenance, and restoration.
  • Attend and participate in department meetings and is accountable for all information shared.
  • Complete mandatory education, annual competencies and department specific education within established timeframes.
  • Complete annual employee health requirements within established timeframes.
  • Maintain license/certification, registration in good standing throughout fiscal year.
