VIC the PICC ("VTP") is a specialized healthcare provider focused on vascular access consulting services to acute care hospitals, skilled nursing facilities and home healthcare. Job Description We’re hiring experienced PICC RNs as well as RNs with strong Ultrasound-Guided IV (USGIV) experience who are ready to grow. Those without PICC experience can train with us to become PICC certified — full-time commitment required. As a Vascular Access Nurse Consultant, you will work collaboratively with our customer's clinical team to resolve venous access issues to facilitate the treatment objectives of the treating physician. You may work inside or outside the hospital setting depending on each individual referral, providing you with a unique career opportunity to observe different treatment protocols and patient challenges. Requirements
- Registered Nurse with current license
- American Heart BLS Certification
- Experience in vascular access device management, including care, maintenance, and troubleshooting
- Experience placing ultrasound-guided IVs
- Ability to work independently and fulfill scheduling requirements as indicated by job classification
- Valid driver's license, active auto insurance, and reliable transportation for travel to patient sites
- Must possess a smart phone
- Must LOVE vascular access!
Nice To Haves
- Minimum of 3 years' experience in acute care
- Experience with other vascular access device (VAD) placements using ultrasound
Responsibilities
- Perform PICC (Peripherally Inserted Central Catheter) and Midline insertions using ultrasound guidance with precision and adherence to aseptic technique.
- Conduct peripheral IV insertions, port access, line removal, and declotting procedures with skill and efficiency.
- Assess patients’ vascular status through physical examinations, vital signs monitoring, and detailed patient assessments.
- Manage complex cases involving dialysis access, IV infusion therapy, tube feeding, and acute pain management.
- Document all procedures accurately within electronic health record (EHR) systems such as Epic or Cerner while maintaining compliance with HIPAA regulations.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams including physicians in specialties like cardiology, ophthalmology, trauma medicine, infectious disease care, and hospice & palliative medicine to ensure comprehensive patient care.
- Provide triage services for urgent vascular access needs and assist with infection control protocols to minimize infection rates.
