About The Position

Heartline Staffing, Strategic Talent Partners with Purple Cow Recruiting, is seeking a Registered Nurse (RN) for a permanent Cardiac Telemetry Services opportunity in Independence, Missouri. Cardiac nurses in this role assess and respond to acute changes in patient condition, closely monitor and analyze cardiac rhythms, interpret ECGs, recognize arrhythmias, and intervene during emergency situations. This position requires strong critical thinking skills, advanced clinical knowledge, and the ability to remain calm and decisive in high-acuity environments. ABOUT THIS UNIT: This is a 36-bed Cardiac Specialty Unit serving a wide variety of monitored patients, including chest pain, stroke, COPD, post-operative patients, GI conditions, accelerated heart rhythms, and patients on cardiac drips. The unit serves as a step-down from PCU and is part of a Level II Trauma Center. The leadership team strongly supports career development, advancement, and progression into higher-acuity critical care roles. The team culture is highly collaborative, with strong peer support, guidance, and ongoing education. Nurse-to-Patient Ratios: Day Shift: 4–5:1 Night Shift: 5–6:1 Staffing includes one tech per hall.

Requirements

  • Registered Nurse (RN) required.
  • Minimum of 1 year of acute care RN experience required.
  • Graduate of a school of nursing with Diploma, ADN, or BSN.
  • Active Missouri RN license or multistate compact RN license required.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) required upon hire.
  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) required within 1 year of hire.

Responsibilities

  • The Registered Nurse coordinates and provides both therapeutic and administrative services necessary for patient care.
  • Deliver nursing care in accordance with hospital and departmental policies while supporting the mission of the facility.
  • Provide care to patients ages 16 and older, including young adults, adults, and geriatric populations.
  • Patients under age 16 are cared for until stable for transfer.
  • Develop advanced knowledge of psychosocial, spiritual, pathophysiological, and therapeutic components related to step-down and cardiac monitoring care.
  • Identify risks, hazards, and unsafe practices and participate in mitigation efforts.
