While this position is primarily a day shift position, there will be occassions when after-hours response is necessary for medical and operational needs. Administered by the U.S. Department of Labor, Gulfport Job Corps Center is a part of the nation's largest career technical training and education program. This position is funded through June 30, 2026, with continuation beyond that date contingent on future funding approval. Job Overview Assists with providing nursing care for students who are sick and/or injured, prevention of illness and promotion of good health within limits of state RN licensure and in compliance with government, corporate, and management directives. Requirements

  • Must be a licensed Registered Nurse in the State in which you are working.
  • Must have current, valid CPR/First Aid.
  • Current, valid Driver’s License, with an acceptable driving record.
  • Successfully pass background check and drug test.

  • Two (2) years of related experience.

Responsibilities

  • Triage of emergency or urgent situations; administer emergency or first aid care; triage students who report to clinic during drop-in time.
  • Assessment and treatment of illness utilizing protocols or referral to physician as appropriate.
  • Assist physician or nurse practitioner with examinations and scheduling.
  • Track labs/testing to ensure continuation of care and for billing purposes.
  • Track immunizations for compliance with federal and state law, and job corps requirements.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date student medical records.
  • Follow-up on minor and major illness by phone interview and/or appointment with physician.
  • Schedule and track follow-up appointments.
  • Administer prescription medications as ordered by the doctor.
  • Teach student about all aspects of illness or condition.
  • Teach wellness and self-care via one-on-one with students, presenting classes, and setting a positive example.
  • Maintain and order prescription inventory, follow-up with supply orders and screen for expiration dates.
  • Maintain and supply common non-prescription medications to work areas, industry classrooms and dorms.
  • Provide in-service instruction to staff on a wide variety of subjects.
  • Maintain a working relationship with outside agencies.
  • Serve on committees as appointed.
  • Function as reproductive health coordinator. Conduct functional evaluations and track prenatal care.
  • Gather staff input monthly to plan for medical separation with reinstatement.
  • Request student leaves while ensuring scheduled care is not interrupted and is in compliance with PRH.
  • Cultivate and maintain a climate on Center that is free of harassment, intimidation, and disrespect to provide a safe place for staff and students to work and learn.
  • Promote student attainment of career success standards through modeling appropriate skills, mentoring students, monitoring skill acquisition and intervening when inappropriate behavior is observed.
  • Perform all other job related duties as requested.
  • Completing all mandated training requirements per government and management directives.
  • Timely and cost effective performance of duties.
  • Ability to effectively communicate and present information to students, management and line staff, corporate and DOL personnel and public groups.
  • Ability to develop rapport and positive working relationships with all departments.
  • Timely completion and accuracy of all departmental work.
  • Dealing with a variety of people in a professional, courteous manner in diversified situations.
  • Adherence to established company safety policies and ability to work in a safe manner, using any required personal protective equipment (PPE) as may be required.
  • Compliance with company standard operating procedures and personnel policies and procedures.
