The role is for a capable clinician, preferably with previous specialty experience, focused on expanding knowledge and skills. The RN consistently provides effective direct care as part of an interdisciplinary team to a variety of complex patients, seeking and providing feedback for improved clinical practice. This position assumes a beginning clinical bedside leadership role and seeks mentoring. The RN is a professional member of VOICE professional nursing shared governance, providing feedback on issues and participating on VOICE councils and Nursing Quality Teams. They actively participate on Unit Council to improve NDNQI nursing sensitive indicators, RN Satisfaction, Employee Engagement, Culture of Safety, and Patient Experience data. The RN works with other care team members to recruit and retain an excellent nursing care team. For new graduate clinical RNs, the focus is primarily on developing knowledge and skills and showing growth in the ability to care for increasingly complex patients. The RN is responsible for providing direct and safe patient care based on the nursing process, and for coordinating care for assigned patients on a shift to promote the achievement of clinical outcomes. This role requires consultation with more experienced clinicians and acceptance of feedback as a constructive professional development tool.
